Flavor is mildly better, floral notes, with a hint of citrus. What really sucked about the beer is the awful metallic aftertaste. Overall, this IPA is not your typical IPA, I like mine hoppy with a nice malt balance and yes, with some complexity...is that too much to ask Mendocino? Mrthirstyneck (341), Minnesota, USA

| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Oct 13, 2007 A bit rough as far as the bitterness to sweetness factor but a nice floral grapefruit pinge here which doesn’t make this notable but doesn’t dampen its spirit either. Really hoppy up front, with an unbalanced tart middle. Finish was nice clean and hoppy. cathcacr (592), Portland, Oregon, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Oct 3, 2007 On the mild side for an IPA, and not Fuggles or peachy qualities, either. Palate nice and crisp but a bit watery. It still gets a passing grade for the style, and it’s a strong style, so blah blah blah blah blah, blah blah blah, blah. | 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Oct 2, 2007 Bottle. Amber with a little bit of a haze to it. Two fingers of a beige head decorate the top. Aromas are mostly of floral hops, apple juice and yeast. Flavor is caramel malt with a nice piney hops finish, but there is not a really nice connection between any of the elements (aroma, body and finish). obguthr (1065), Poquoson, Virginia, USA
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 2/5 | 10/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Sep 30, 2007 Moderately strong aroma of pineapple, cashew, and caramel. Hazy amber color, no head, with steady streams of carbonation. Excellent mouthfeel, smoky initial taste. Tangy orange and orange peel at midpalate gradually gives way to a tasteful lemon grass. Wonderful transitions and very easy to enjoy.
