Appearance: amber shaded brew with mid plus creamy top. Ring of lace noted. 3+ Nose: Hops but with something else that clashes , off fruity feel berry and alcohol. Flavor/Palate : Soft bodied with toasted golden malt , bit grainy , hop sided. As aroma flavor is this one is not well paired. Hops don’t work well with malt.

Pours a lovely amber color with a foamy somehwat off-white head. Aroma: Earthy, with a hint of pine and grapefruit. Flavor: The right balance of mat and hops, and the usual citrus notes found in IPAs. greig (171), Hamilton, New Zealand
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Aug 8, 2009 Well. I’m not sure what to think of this. The aroma is kindof off. I can’t quite place what it is - cheesy? Reminds me of a well aged Stilton. That’d be a good thing, but not really in a beer. Anyway, moving on. The flavour is quite a lot better. Complex malt and hops - toast and marmalade? Firm bitterness. Too much carbonation though. I just feel this beer could have been so much better. ghawener (963), San Salvador, El Salvador

I think the Beer Guy called these brews ’transition beers’. Has just a good balance to deliver the nicer things of a good brew but doesn´t scare you aware. It gives you enough to want to try more. | 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 11/20 | Jul 31, 2009 Faint Hop aroma, with a little barn yard scent, and a hint of berries. Strawberries maybe. Clear burnt orange, light carbonation, and filmy head,
It’s very strange, there is a lot of body, but no flavor to back it up. The palate is full and heavy, but with the lack of flavor it’s like drinking an off glass of water.
What little flavor there is some orange peel, hop bitterness, and some musky after taste. The after mouth feel is almost like syrup. It coats the tongue leaving me longing for a glass of fresh water. mrant (330), New York, USA

| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jul 21, 2009 Bottle. Pours a clear copper orange with a small white head that diminishes quickly to nothing. The aroma is a piney hops with grapefruit and caramel. Thin mouthfeel and a bit watery on the palate. A sweet hop taste with grapefruit and citrus with a nice dry finish. A good IPA from Mendocino.
