Commercial Description:
White Hawk is a traditional IPA .The IPA recipe is based on the original 1880 brew that was sent to India for the British troops. The advent of India Pale Ale was born of a need to supply beer in the 1800's to British troops in India. This hearty, heavily hopped ale was brewed to endure the rigors of the long voyage from Great Britain.

White Hawk Original IPA was launched in California in early 2002 to meet the demand for a unique India Pale Ale. Consumer response for White Hawk IPA exceeded expectations and it is fast gaining a loyal following both in 6 pack and on draft.

Aroma is hoppy but not too strong. Color is a clear dark amber with a fairly thick and persistent head. Taste is strongly hoppy, with malty undertones; I could not detect any other flavors. A refreshing and enjoyable IPA.

Small head and copper body. Needs to warm up a little to start getting some hops in the nose. Tasty hoppy flavor with some citrus. Smooth very drinkable IPA.

Pours a light orange color with a white head. Aroma is malty, fruity, with some hops. Flavor is malty, with a earthy bitter finish.

Surprised to see this in 22 oz. bottles at Fremont PCC Seattle. I have the 12 oz 2007 bottle, but have not yet tried it due to past experience. Given that, I was glad to sense an improvement in the 2007 22 oz brew. The flavor is like a double hop malt liquor. Balanced simple flavor.

Picked up a sixer of this for company and have enjoyed it so far. Nothing too remarkable about it - amber body, medium mouthfeel, moderate head - but it’s certainly anything but unassuming. Citrus nose and some breadiness don’t prepare you for an almost astringent feel towards the finish. It’s not anything that particularly gets in the way, but man does it taste a bit hot. Then again, maybe I have a mild bronchial infection.

22 oz. bottle - pours gold with foaming whiet head; mild hop aromas that drinks smooth; not too bold and a little basic, yet a decent offering

In american pint on tap at Quenchers in Chicago. Nice copper body on white head. Little to no aroma to speak which is really necessary in american IPAs, if it aint dry hoppd I don’t want to smell it. Or have atleast something but a hint of citrus hops. Flavor was very standard to exceptional for an IPA, very well balanced, with some pine and orange. Med body but not bad. Overall an underwhelming IPA, but would still bring a sixer to a party.

almost fermented hop tea, which I enjoy, but misses the IPA mark; light malt; a bit metallic
