Commercial Description:
White Hawk is a traditional IPA .The IPA recipe is based on the original 1880 brew that was sent to India for the British troops. The advent of India Pale Ale was born of a need to supply beer in the 1800's to British troops in India. This hearty, heavily hopped ale was brewed to endure the rigors of the long voyage from Great Britain.

White Hawk Original IPA was launched in California in early 2002 to meet the demand for a unique India Pale Ale. Consumer response for White Hawk IPA exceeded expectations and it is fast gaining a loyal following both in 6 pack and on draft.

Had a whimpy aroma.Head average.Color typical amber.Flavor bitter,and one-dimensional.Average palate.Just hops.Cool label on bottle.Does that count?There are so many better Ipa’s,so I would buy Stone Ipa,which is in Von’s here.

Bottle from trader Joes; grainy malt nose with a small hop note; slightly hazed gold with a small white head; flavor was only a small amount of hop bitterness with a bit of caranel in the background. Pretty poor for an IPA.

golden orange with an almost coarse-looking head. Decent hop flavor but with a earthy/hay note not to my taste. Enjoyable but not one of the greats

12oz bottle. orange-golden hazy pour, white 1-inch residual head. strong aromas of chewy caramel, a bit of sweet chocolate, and just a little brown sugar goodness that perplexes me for an ipa. a little grassy, but more like pine sap and chewy, darker flavors like caramel, butterscotch, and a touch of darker malts. smooth mouthfeel, typical ipa as for its hoppiness. it’s a full-flavored, well rounded ipa with a slight bitter finish.

Nice Lacing, one finger head clinging nicely to the glass. Dark Orange amber coloring. Grapefruit, citrus peel, pine sap taste, hoppy and bitter. Nose is more inviting to me, a bit of malty mango sweetness apparent here with just a note of dog ear. True to form IPA

Poured a clear effervescent golden with a large fizzy/frothy white head. Strong aroma of pine and grapefruit hops with a touch of sweetness. Flavor is quite bitter with some pink grapefruit citrus coming through with a touch of pine, some dry toffee. A bit of butter shows up in the mouthfeel, which detracts a bit from the score. Overall finishes dry with some toffee. Must give it credit for showing very little of the 7% alcohol. Overall quite standard and far from mind-blowing, but solid and decent.

Clear amber, large almost frothy head, barely average lacing and decent retention. Aroma is the usual bag of hops, but not as bi g as some others I’ve tried. Flavor brings this with a relatively high carbonation. Quite bitter finish. Decent enough, but there are a billion IPAs that are better.
