Commercial Description:
White Hawk is a traditional IPA .The IPA recipe is based on the original 1880 brew that was sent to India for the British troops. The advent of India Pale Ale was born of a need to supply beer in the 1800's to British troops in India. This hearty, heavily hopped ale was brewed to endure the rigors of the long voyage from Great Britain.

White Hawk Original IPA was launched in California in early 2002 to meet the demand for a unique India Pale Ale. Consumer response for White Hawk IPA exceeded expectations and it is fast gaining a loyal following both in 6 pack and on draft.

Bottle. Amber orange pour with great creamy head and good lacing. Stong hoppy aroma and flavor. Very similar to Eye of the Halk.

12 ounce bottle. Pours a light copper yellow orange color, with a fairly full and compact white head. Aroma leads me to believe that this is of the English type. Buttered toast, and earthy hops. Same in the flavor. A tad peppery up front with a strong bitter finish. Rich satisfying palate. Not awful, but not great.

Crisp, indeed, to the point of astringency. Far too hoppy for my tastes. Bitter in the finish, which wouldn’t be bad except that it really lingers on the back of the tongue. Too harsh.

Nice dark pour-looks good. Aroma is standard IPA but not as crisp or fresh as some-flavor is piney, earthy and sweet malt with some unknown frothyness and sourish twinge-maybe too much sugar. solidly avg IPA

12oz bottle. Aroma: Citrus hops, earthiness, some pine, honey, light sweet maltiness. Appearance: Amber in color and fairly clear. Off-white head was full and frothy with decent retention. Nice lacing. Flavor: Definatly a ’West Coast-Hop Forward’ IPA. Some slight grainy malt and caramel. Orange peel, resin and pine. Some light grassiness into the finish. Bitterness is Fairly strong and lingers for quite awhile. Palate: Medium bodied. Medium carbonation. Dry finish. Overall: A decent IPA, but a little too much lingering bitterness for my taste.

Poured out a light medium amber, with an aroma of hops, flowers, citrius. Taste was somewhat pungent of other IPA’s Ive had. Hops, black pepper, pines. Not exactly what I would consider an upper level IPA, but still qualifies as one IMO. Slight alcohol bitterness in the end. I think if it was a bit smoother, this would be a better IPA, otherwise its sorta ordinary to me.

Bottle:Cloudy gold color with a white head. Spoiled hop aroma with pepper, cardboard and plastic. The taste is disgusting. Metallic bitter flavor - hair spray and other nastiness. This is by far the worst IPA I have ever encountered.

On tap. Poured decent light yellow color with thin head. Aroma hoppy, but not quite all there. Taste of citrusy hops were there but too mild, and the finish was smooth. A decent brew, but had its shortcomings.
