Commercial Description:
White Hawk is a traditional IPA .The IPA recipe is based on the original 1880 brew that was sent to India for the British troops. The advent of India Pale Ale was born of a need to supply beer in the 1800's to British troops in India. This hearty, heavily hopped ale was brewed to endure the rigors of the long voyage from Great Britain.

White Hawk Original IPA was launched in California in early 2002 to meet the demand for a unique India Pale Ale. Consumer response for White Hawk IPA exceeded expectations and it is fast gaining a loyal following both in 6 pack and on draft.

Rolling hop flavors, lots of action on the palate with a satisfying quench of thirst.. certain to survive a voyage to India.

Poured into a pint glass this 12 ounce bottle of White Hawk IPA was a clear light golden brown. It formed about a 2 inch off white head. This lasted about a minute and slowly reduce to about an inch after another minute. It finally settled down into a nice thin layer of foam that remained until the beer was gone. There was also some moderate lacing on the glass. I got a piney hit at first. Later I got an astringent aroma. Nothing else. Very citrus/piney and bitter hop flavor all the way through. No malt flavors can be detected. It leaves a bitter aftertaste. It is light on the palate and has good carbonation. It’s drinkable, but nowhere near the best IPA I’ve had. I won’t buy it again, but, yes I’d drink one if someone gave me one.

Pour is a clear orange with a small head. No lacing and hardly any head at all. Mendocino is dead on when they say it’s heavily hopped....because it is!! Aroma is all hops and the taste is bitter throughout. Palate is kind of thin, but that’s my only complaint about this good IPA.

A fairly straightforward example of IPA. Good hop aroma. The pale malts hold up well and give a respectably smooth flavor to accompany the generous dose of hops. Pleasant and drinkable, and enough alcohol to make it interesting. I liked the balance, and the price is right at $6.99 for a six pack at Broudy’s, Orange Park FL.

The aroma has floral hops, citrus, malt, and nuts. The appearance is a copper gold with a small, persistent head. The flavor is full of hops. It also has citrus and bread tastes to it. The palate is a little thin but that does not seem to hurt this one. It’s good.

This was a very hazy, light amber beer with a white head that exploded in the glass.. I was very careful on subsequent pourings, but the head still rose up big. As this huge mass of bubbles dissipated, it was frothy and rocky, settling very slowly. The gigantic head left behind some nice lace, sometimes in thick chunks. Light sweet malt and wild grasses combined with light hops and spicy yeast. Hints of wild flowers, light fruits, such as grapes and apples, and sulpher. Overall, a light, fresh aroma Light-bodied and crisp. Smooth, but firm, with a light carbonation that developed in the back of the mouth. Grasses a wild flowers kicked in right from the start. There was only a hint of sweet and biscuit malt present. That wild, grassy and floral flavor developed into a floral hops bitterness. This lingered into the finish where hints of sweetness rose up again. Just a bit of crisp, clean fruitiness showed up in the aftertaste along with the bitterness. A dry, crisp, clean, and refreshing IPA.

A pleasent citrusy aroma greets the nose. There is a nice amber color to the beer and the head is an off white. The head has some duration and there is considerable amounts of lacing. The flavor has a grapefruit bite and there is a nice aftertaste.
