Commercial Description:
White Hawk is a traditional IPA .The IPA recipe is based on the original 1880 brew that was sent to India for the British troops. The advent of India Pale Ale was born of a need to supply beer in the 1800's to British troops in India. This hearty, heavily hopped ale was brewed to endure the rigors of the long voyage from Great Britain.

White Hawk Original IPA was launched in California in early 2002 to meet the demand for a unique India Pale Ale. Consumer response for White Hawk IPA exceeded expectations and it is fast gaining a loyal following both in 6 pack and on draft.

Copper color with a thinnish off white head. Average lacing. Aroma of roasted malt and some piney and citrus hops. Flavor is on the bitter side, grapefruit hops and a malted finish, a bit watery. Average for an IPA, texture is a little more along the lines of an APA.

Reviewed 4/3/2009 (Bottle): Pours a reddish brownish colored body, clear. Average creamy whitish color head okay lacing, lasting. Malty hoppy sweet aroma, some effervescence, but a lot of sickly sweetness. Weak taste. Hoppiness and some bitterness. Some malty sweetness too. A little bitterness on the end, but a clean aftertaste. Carbonated mouthfeel. Some light fruitiness too.

Honey-colored body with a very thin white head. Aroma is light for an IPA. Some caramel malt and the typical floral and citrus hops. Bright and carbonated up front dissolving to an oily finish on the tongue. The flavor is more present and potent than the aroma. THere’s just a bit of caramel malt sweetness at first. That is quickly pushed aside by bitter grapefruit and pine hops. Almost too much, but it fades rapidly to just a little bitter aftertaste. Not a bad IPA, but there are better ones out there.

Bottle. Pours sparkling dark yellow with an average, frothy, white head, somewhat diminishing with fair lacing. Aroma is average malt (cereal, grain, meal), heavy hops (flowers, grass, pine, spruce), average yeast (sweat) with notes of grape and apple. Medium bodied, sticky texture, lively carbonation, and a bitter finish. Long duration, light sweetness, heavy acidity and bitterness.
