Commercial Description:
White Hawk is a traditional IPA .The IPA recipe is based on the original 1880 brew that was sent to India for the British troops. The advent of India Pale Ale was born of a need to supply beer in the 1800's to British troops in India. This hearty, heavily hopped ale was brewed to endure the rigors of the long voyage from Great Britain.

White Hawk Original IPA was launched in California in early 2002 to meet the demand for a unique India Pale Ale. Consumer response for White Hawk IPA exceeded expectations and it is fast gaining a loyal following both in 6 pack and on draft.

Bottle. Slightly hazed orange color (maybe on the light side for an IPA). Good head which leaves traces down the side of the glass. Northwest hops, but not too strong. Good malt balance. Tingles the ribcage a bit as well. Very solid.

I don’t mind a bitter IPA but it’s nice if it’s a little more balanced with citrus or a little sweetness. No head out of the bottle.

Pours a light amber color with a modest head. A hoppy IPA with a balanced taste and not too bittter of a finish. A pretty good IPA.

Sure this isn’t an ESB? Or an APA? Malts are nice - but there’s a coppery-tasting flavor - very metallic - that ruins the malt profile in this one. Aroma is that of an ESB, musty and malty. Flavor is slightly bitter, no florals and not much flavor beyond the metallic and bitter notes.

Poured mostly clear golden with a somewhat foamy/rocky head. Nicely hopped with some citrus notes. Good brew.

12 oz bottle purchased from McScrooge’s in Knoxville. Poured a clear gold/orange color with a one finger white head. The aroma was very floral. The flavor was a little more malty than I expected with citrus hints and a very bitter finish that lasted for quite some time. The body of the beer was medium, and the carbonation was good. Very puckering and offensive palate.
