At Atlanta beer tasting. Dark brown to black brew with minor head. Moderate to strong alcohol aroma, slightly sweet, with undertones of cleaning fluid. Smoky flavor, moderate body and otherwise unremarkable. Pretty good, very drinkable brew.

Pours a beautiful black/brown color with a very small thin white/tan head, and below average lacing. Below average carbonation with a smell of sweet roasted malts. Tastes of smoked, roasted malts, with chocolate/coffee overtones. Very balanced and Very Tasty This is one good beer. Drink and Enjoy!

5/18/07 in Palm Beach. Begins a few days of chillin’ and swillin’ on the balcony. Seven stories up with a view down the beach and an ocean breeze. Pelicans pass at eye level. Had this instead of morning coffee. 12 oz bottle. Dark cola brown with some woody foam fuzz. Carb maintains a light skin. Grape jelly with a nip of molasses. Taste begins a little fudgey then leads to black coffee with a metallic grapefruit tang. Medium body with moderate carb. A slight cardboard note may indicate this is past prime.

Bottle. Totally black colour with a little light brown head. Very nice sweet aroma of malt, chocolate, roastedness and become very smooth. Also nice smooth flavour of spices, roastedness, coffee and dry maltness. Very nice and tasty.

Bottle courtesy shigadeyo. Pours an opaque blackish brown with a thin tan head. Medium body and moderate carbonation. Nutty chocolate nose. Vanilla coffee taste. A touch of smoke in the lightly bitter finish. Seems like a porter aspiring to stout-hood.

12-oz. Thanks, BitBucket! This is a super-dark porter; obsidian at least. Light ring of tight moussy dark tan bubbles. Not much lace. Big roasty nose. Comes on a little shy and timid with some nice deep roast and toast, but it doesn’t really pick up until the mid-palate: odd creamy/hollow body (how many beers can you say that about?). Long roasty finish, a little bit of peppery hop but not a lot, and only really at the finish. A little chalk in the finish as the glass gets lower. Nice easy drinking stuff that would be a treat if it were in 6 packs at the supermarket. Not sure if it’s one to chase down, though.
