Pours out a dark brown almost black color with a tan head. Smell is mostly roasted malts, and some hints of caramel and sugars. Taste is smooth and sweet, some bitterness still lingering. A little coffee, a little chocolate, not too shabby. I hear that some of this is still around, so you should get some if you get the chance, its pretty good stuff, and its still good. Flavor was nice and filling chocolate malts with just enough cascades to add just the right bite. Palate was full and thick. Overall this was very enjoyable, makes me kick myself for walking past this several times. mbeem (104), New Hope, Alabama, USA

Finish is bitter cocoa, slightly spicy. Really good! yemntftb (106), USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | May 20, 2006 A nice winter beer, can’t drink too many, they are very full/thick/heavy. It is a very smooth stout, with mollasses and chocolate malts/flavor. I like this beer, but usually only drink one before I need to move on to something else. Overall, one of mendocino’s better beers, great to mix for a black and tan. Sammy (4049), Toronto, Ontario, Canada
