Nose is full of fresh citrus fruit, plenty of juicy grapefruit, orange and pineapple, blended with a touch of pine and faint, honeyish malt sweetness. Clear light-medium copper color with a very fine, thin head. Flavor is dominated by the hop profile, citric, juicy, clean, resinous and earthy, drying and nicely bitter throughout, with only a faint hit of caramel malt sweetness in the background and touches of orange peel on the finish. Mouthfeel is oily and thinly effervescent, body is medium. Not a complex rendering, but does have a pleasantly robust, flavorful hop character befitting the style. | 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jan 28, 2008 Bottled. Poured clear, medium orange with about 3/4" of white head sticking around. The aroma picked up sweet grapefruit meat and carmel with light spicage.. rather one-dimensional, but it was pleasant. The flavor was very spicy, with grapefruit meat and alcohol-laced caramels at the core.. high pine and grapefruit bitterness surround, leading to a warm, tacky, bitter grapefruity finish.. OK balance, but only decently-composed. Medium-plus bodied with lots of bitterness and a bit too much overt alcohol. Not bad, and well worth the price. xibalba89 (147), New York, New York, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jan 28, 2008 Pours a clear amber with a fizzy but minimal head. Aroma has tons of floral hops. Flavor is the standard IPA hoppy spiciness/bitterness, but the mouthfeel is fuller than most. Not bad, but I’ll stick to Dogfish Head’s IPAs. MrBendo (1043), Swedesboro, New Jersey, USA
| 2.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 8/20 | Jan 27, 2008 Bottle. Clear amber/orange with a medium head. Aroma of bitter citrus, pine and band-aids. Taste is much the same - with some caramel malt. Not gonna spend a lot of time on this. Alcohol really comes through in an unflattering way. Delirium (499), Santa Cruz, California, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jan 27, 2008 Bottle. Pours clear amber-orange with a moderate white head. Aroma is lots of citrus hops, with a bit of honeyish malt behind them. Flavor is also lots of citrus hops, more grapefruity than the aroma, with some woody bitterness. Moves to somewhat sweet malt with a bit of alcohol and more resiny hops in the finish. Pretty good. kwoeltje (1322), Manchester, Missouri, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Jan 25, 2008 (bottle) deep amber with white head (one bottle in the 6 was a bit flat, but still tasted OK). Huge citrus hops aroma. Flavor is citrus (grapefruit) hops, enough malt to keep it somewhat balanced. Gachupines (292), USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jan 20, 2008 Amber color with a white head. Aroma is mainly hops. Taste is citrus hops with an aftertaste that is a little cloying with a fairly thick alcohol sweetness present. Overall, a fairly pleasant beer, but there’s much better IIPA’s out there. dmac (1487), Toms River, New Jersey, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Jan 20, 2008 12 oz bottle purchased at Spirits RB. Pours a clear orange amber with an average size pillowy white head. Aroma is rather one dimensional with lots of citrus(grapefruit) hops shining through. Medium bodied with a very dry finsih that basically dried my mouth out. I wouldn’t say the flavor was one dimensional but more like two dimensional, hops and alcohol. This hoppy mess is a welcome change to all of those overspiced winter seasonal tradgedies. To bad it wsn’t good though.
