Mildly hoppy aroma with a bit of sweetness. Flavor is much more hoppy. Overall not too complex, but it is a good brew. Gregis (1135), Shawnee, Kansas, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Jan 4, 2008 Pours a clear orange with a sticky, creamy beige head that takes its time to diminish. The aroma is sweet and citric with solid notes of grapefruit, tangerine and sweet malt, along with a light, "off", wet dog note in the background. Medium-bodied and oily with a dry, bitter, tongue-squeezing finish. The flavor is of sweet caramel malt along with pine and grapefruit hops that linger at the bitter and slightly resinous finish. This is a decent beer, but it is outclassed by just about every other IIPA that I’ve tried, to date. It’s worth trying, but if you do so expecting to be impressed, you’ll probably end up being disappointed. bryandhargrave (165), Richmond, Virginia, USA

| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Jan 1, 2008 12oz bottle. thanks to devon for this and holdenn too. pours orange with white head. nose is hoppy, juicy notes. flavor is hoppy and juicy fruit. not overly bitter. a good balance but nothing special. some biscuity malts. decent. mrpickwick (5), Jaffrey, New Hampshire, USA does not count | 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Dec 31, 2007 Pours orangy copper with a subdued but pleasant woodsy aroma. Decent carbonation and head. Plenty of hops in the taste but also a bit of sweetness. Overall, a very refreshing and tasty brew. Unlke some double IPA’s, I could definitely drink more than one at a sitting- maybe even merits consideration as a limited-session IPA despite the 7.5% ABV.
I hope Mendocino drops the Winter Seasonal aspect of this product as I’d certainly consider keeping it in the refrigerator for all seasons of the year. jsh12bama (344), Alabama, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Dec 30, 2007 Pours hazy orange with thin off white head. Nice hoppy aroma. First taste has big hop flavor. A little watered down at the end. Hops but not much else. Decent but not great. JPDIPSO (4932), Wauwatosa, Wisconsin, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Dec 30, 2007 Amber color with a tallish beige head. Hops dominated aroma with sweet citric grapefruit and blood oranges. HInts of caramel in the background. Nice ring of lace with each gulp. LIght sweet malt, dough and caramel in the front. Grapefruit in the middle, not the sweet grapefruit as in the scent, much like the white grapefruit that begs the eater to pour sugar over it. Mild return of the pale malt in the finish and that is short lived as the bitterness comes back and haunts the linger. The "mood" swings in this one are quite severe. It seems to lose its balance and stagger around. A little tweaking and this has a lot of promise.
