Commercial Description:
A delightful accident created this beer - it froze during fermentation! We have recreated the original recipe, which is further blessed with the world’s finest berwing water from Southwestern Colorado’s Lizard Head Watershed. This doppelbock is smooth, mellow, and quite wicked! Keep cool and enjoy it in moderation.

Cask Stillage from the Jug at the GABF, Colorado Convention Center 26/09/2009 Floral aroma. Amber sweet on the palate malty and strong in alcohol with a little bitterness in a nutty malt finish.

Bottle from the brewery in Cortez. Pours a very deep brown with minimal white head. Aroma of deep malty sweetness, dark fruits, and some spiciness. Taste is extremely prickly on the palate, much more like an ale than the smoothness I generally associate with lagered beers. Taste is of deep, dark cherry fruits and dark malts. Aftertaste is very dry with hints of oak....and a little pine-sol? Definitely not very to-style, but very different and interesting (tasted much different on tap as well)

Bottle courtesy of avengedpoet. Pours a nice brownish red with a small off white head. aroma of malt, dark fruits, and molsses. Flavor is malt, cherry, caramel, acidic, nutty. Strange for a dopplebock, but interesting nonetheless.

Tap on Main Street. Great colour - an auburn brown like a fox. Taste is fairly thick with notes of caramel, wheat, darker hops and brown malt. Probably the best beer they make, and very reminiscent of TAPS Fish House Thomas Jefferson Ale. Very, very nice.

In the bottle from Logan’s Pre-GABF party. Pours reddish brown with a medium tan head. Lots of caramel. Slightly acidic aroma. Flavors match the caramel aroma with additional nuttiness. Medium palate. Almost like a light sherry. A good beer.

Draft 6 oz’er at the brewpub, 9/18/06: Very dark red, like cough syrup. Big alcohol nose. Almost a cherry flavor develops from the alcohol in this one. Delish.
