The aroma is woody balsamic vinegar. Black raisins. Very unique and balanced. The flavor is tart and lightly sweet with woodsy balsamic vinegar. The palate is a little thin. | 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Dec 13, 2006 light brownish color pour w/ some red hughes and a small bubbled tan head w/ some pretty nice lacing. Some mild wood notes a lightly sour grape aroma comes through hints of raisens, pretty mild for a sour. Palate is well coated and lightly tart some little bits of carbonation. Flavor is pretty good quite fruitty some light berries and grapes, a little bit tart w/ a sweet yet still dry finish with some nice hints of wood. I like it. kramer (2515), Sunbury, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Nov 28, 2006 12 oz bottle, via slob. Pours a clear dark ruby colored body under a minimal off-white head that faded ti a whispy film. Aroma is lightly tart with a prominant grape soda overtone. Notes of raisons, balsamic vinegar, and wood. Flavor is lightly tart, but there’s no crispness, just kind of limp and almost old tasting, even though I know this is a fresh bottle. More grape soda here as well, and still pretty sweet for the style. The mouthfeel is medium bodied and fairly sticky and cloying, especially on the finish. The lively fine carbonation does help cut through the stickiness some. Overall, this just seemed a little simple and pedestrian for the style. Maybe if it were a little drier I would have enjoyed it a bit more. dkoonce (899), People’s Republic of Athens, Ohio, USA
| 0.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 1/10 | 2/5 | 1/10 | 1/5 | 1/20 | Nov 17, 2006 Bottle. Pours black with almost no head. Sweet aroma, almost smells like it’s turned to vinegar. Tastes like it turned to vinegar. Horrible. Hate to pour it out but, can’t imagine drinking the rest of this! biggcb (464), Harleysville, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Oct 13, 2006 Bottle. Pours a relatively dark amber/brown color with reddish hues, with a very thin head. Aroma is mostly vinegar, with some fruit(plums, raisins) adding some vinous sweetness. The vinegar is not as apparent in the flavor, but still present. Not offensive, but delivering a bit of sourness. Also get the fruits and yeast in the flavor. Relatively balanced, with a moderate mouthfeel. antzman (313), Clarksville, Indiana, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jun 17, 2006 Draft at Rich O’s. Pours a nice dark amber with a thin tan head. The aroma has a bit of caramel, with some cherries. The flavor is really smooth. Tart cherries with a nice clean finish. Easy drinker, that makes me like this style more and more. hokiebeerguy (21), USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | May 17, 2006 Nice sour ale. Not as sour as the standard Rodenbach, and has hints of caramel in the background, but only slight, as most of the taste is sourish. Very refreshing sour MikeMac (185), Wyandotte, Michigan, USA
