scraff (1921), Baltimore, Maryland, USA Sep 10, 2008 12oz- Perfect Pour. Sparkling gold, creamy white head. Soft grassy biscuit aromas warm to a sweet floral and caramel tone. Sweet grassy citric orange flavors ride and hints of caramel malt from start to finish. Light to medium bodied with soft carbonation. Drinkable, but a touch sweet for my liking… SDbruboy (1832), San Diego, California, USA Oct 25, 2006 12 oz. bottle, courtesy of Old Mr Crow - thanks! Pours a clear coppery-amber color with a moderate beige head that leaves spotty lace. Aroma is mild, mostly of toasty malts along with hints of citrus fruits and floral hops. Flavor leans towards the malts initially, toasty with a bit of caramel, hops come on midway through bringing in bitter herbs, floral notes, a bit of lemon zest along with some dustiness and spruce in the aftertaste. Light to medium body and moderate carbonation. Not a bad beer, but about as good as I would have expected from Portland Brewing. kamish (92), Lake Stevens, Washington, USA Sep 24, 2006 Updated: Nov 22, 2006nasty. a vomius mass of reinflated anal chucks. descusting. IPA’s are not for me, atleast this one. where’s the mule piss? i need to rinse my mouth out. 5000 (2409), Hardened Liver, Washington, USA Mar 21, 2006 Bottle: Translucent golden, orange tinge, fairly large rocky white head, fairly nice lacing, very light carbonation.   Looks enjoyable enough.   Extremely soft musty hop nose... almost nothing there otherwise.   Perhaps a bit of citrus and pine twang.   Very light bitterness up front, a bit of citrus rind emerges at the finish.   Body and mouthfeel are moderate.   Finishes fairly clean, definitely light, moreso like a Pale Ale.   Meh...
OldMrCrow (1179), Seattle, Washington, USA Mar 20, 2006 From the bottle.
Pours a light watery orange, very clera, with a short-lived head and modest lacing. The aroma is mostly grapefruit, maybe a bit of malt. The flavor is...low key. It’s not unpleasant, but this is no brash Oregan IPA. It’s pretty laid back, some c-hops are certainly there, just not powerfully so. This is a perfectly passable beer when you’re thirsty and in the mood for a light IPA. Its biggest weakness is on the palate; it’s both prickly for overcarbonation "(relative to the speed at which one might want to drink such a session-oriented beer) and rather watery. Reid (1085), Salem, Oregon, USA Mar 1, 2006 Ok another in a seemingly unending flow of contract brews from Portland Brewing..dont really expect much, here goes.
Typical Metolius label this time its a Cutthroat Trout jumping.
Actually it not a bad looking beer when poured into the glass, light orange good carbonation strings and an attractive creamy off white head.
Aroma isnt that bad either..sure can detect the hops..quite spicy indeed.
Nice light IPA here in taste..the spicy /citric hoppiness is nice and theres a bit of malt too..this really is just over the border from a typical American Pale.
The mouthfeel lets it down ..being very watery but i cant say its unpleasant.
A surprise..a nice drinkable lightweight IPA..though for the price i can get far better.
harlequinn (2745), Tacoma, Washington, USA Feb 8, 2006 Not bad for what I was expecting. This was a nice, crisp and clean IPA. Nicely balanced, the hop profile is much stronger than the malt character, which could be a little stronger than it is.
