Golden-amber. Woody-grapefruity C hops with a toasty, breadcrusty pale malt background. Toasty, very woody profile with low-to-moderate bitterness. Not bad, but too indistinctive for a world filled with brash, expressive IPA goodness.

My Bottom Line:
Resinous hops thrive atop lightly breaded caramel malts in this simple but efficient India Pale Ale.

Further Personal Perceptions:
-A sheet of foam covers the misty light amber.
-The resinous hop bitterness is lengthy even though the hop presence is not too talkative in the flavor profile.
-The malts offer some subtle biscuit notes too.
-I didn’t get anything wrong in this bottle, so I don’t really understand the very low marks.

Bottle.

Picked this up whilst grocery shopping. Since we can’t list availability as we used to, I’ll mention the zip code was 60452.
It poured a golden amber body with a moderate head that produced spotty lacing. It had a light, sweet caramel aroma with some citrus and floral hop scents. Thin. The flavor has some caramel sweetness with citrus and pine hop flavor but very little of any hop bitterness. If they hadn’t have named it an IPA, I probably wouldn’t have been as disappointed.

Dark golden color with a smallish off-white head. Scents of pale malt, grapefruit peel and sweet light caramel. Some early malt and bread qualities. An addition of dark honey, mild citrus and light pine wood. A mid to low road IPA, at least by modern standards.

Bottle from Albertsons: Golden yellow, nice white head, nice lacing, lots of carbonation. Nose of bright citrusy grassy hops, a bit of malt funk. Thin flavor, decent hop notes, lacking body though. Eh. So-so cheap and a bit fishy with some marshmallow in the mouthfeel.

Bottle from a discount grocery in Sacramento, CA. Pours orange amber with a decent white head. Aroma is sort of honey over hop and light caramel. Less than medium body with ok carbonation. Flavor is a bit watery, and caramel, with not quite enough floral hop. Some papery notes. Finishes astringent. Good considering the price.

(Rating #2538)

Mouthfeel was thinnish and light on the tongue; mild carbonation. Malts were that of chalky caramel, cocoa powder and sugar cookies. Hops were flowery, with hints of light grass, lemon and spruce (nice aromas). Bitterness was there, yet not overbearing. Decently balanced but not overly exciting.
