Commercial Description:
A combination of a porter (dark ale) and lager, this brand was introduced in early 1998. Chocolate, caramel and pale malts produce a rich, roasted flavor with a slight coffee note and a light, clean finish.

Bottled. Like a American's Guiness. Dark brown, nearly black, thick head that dissipated slowly, earthy, malty aroma, bitter taste. Not bad.

I want to say this was the precursor to Amber bock, but this is terrible. No separation between the dark and the light, just an amberish dark brown color. Light and grainy and not quite horrid, but close.

I had this about a year ago and thought that it tasted worse than dirt - absolute drain pour. Glad to see it’s retired.

I don’t think i would consider this a black and tan in the least bit. Pours a watery dark but clear brown colour. no head, aroma is sweet mouthfeel is light and somewhat dry.

Not the porter but it’s alright. Dark colored and had a fairly rich flavor and texture to it. Malty with perhaps some chocolate or toffee. Weak mouthfeel, not a ton of flavor either. It had much more flavor than your standard ole Michelob however. This isn’t bad.

...not too bad, but a poor attempt by a huge brewery at a hard to duplicate mix beer. Watery, and not true to the style, not good.
