Commercial Description:
A combination of a porter (dark ale) and lager, this brand was introduced in early 1998. Chocolate, caramel and pale malts produce a rich, roasted flavor with a slight coffee note and a light, clean finish.

From what I remember, this beer was not black or tan. And wasn’t tasty at all. Obviously not a commercial success either and this not due to poor quality. See bud light.

This is inferior in all ways to any black and tan that you could possibly concoct on your own. Too sweet and watery by half for my tastes. More lager than Porter.

Bottle. Found some old notes. somewhat of a muddy brown in color, next to flat pour. It had somewhat of a roasted coffee aroma. Tasting revealed somewhat of a bitter lager porter mix. It had a watery body, and somewhat of an oily character. Not very good.

Bottle Poured a dark brown. Had aroma of grain and bubbles. Did not taste like a mix but rather a weak bock. Not awful but its gone now anyway.

Bottle poured like a dark lager. Aroma was of roasted malt. Flavor was burnt malt and very light on the tongue.

I want to say this was the precursor to Amber bock, but this is terrible. No separation between the dark and the light, just an amberish dark brown color. Light and grainy and not quite horrid, but close.

I had this about a year ago and thought that it tasted worse than dirt - absolute drain pour. Glad to see it’s retired.

I don’t think i would consider this a black and tan in the least bit. Pours a watery dark but clear brown colour. no head, aroma is sweet mouthfeel is light and somewhat dry.

Not the porter but it’s alright. Dark colored and had a fairly rich flavor and texture to it. Malty with perhaps some chocolate or toffee. Weak mouthfeel, not a ton of flavor either. It had much more flavor than your standard ole Michelob however. This isn’t bad.
