Commercial Description:
Michelob Celebrate Vanilla Oak features distinct vanilla, caramel and aged oak flavors for a full-bodied, well-balanced taste and warm aroma. Celebrate Vanilla Oak is brewed using two-row barley, caramel malts, carapils malts as well as imported hops. It is aged on whole vanilla beans and bourbon barrel oak. Ideally served with dessert or as an after-dinner drink, Celebrate Vanilla Oak is also enjoyed in a snifter, allowing the beer’s aromas to be intensified.

Sampled at Broudy’s Holiday Beerfest 12/2/2006, Jacksonville FL. Another surprise from AB, since I hold a special contempt for all things Michelob. This beer was actually tasty and enjoyable. Flavor was heavy on the vanilla, and the oak peeked through. A good alcohol hit along with the sweet malt. Interesting.

Served from the most phallic bottle ever made, possibly even moreso than then Bud Light bowling pin. Seriously, this thing either looked like a penis, vibrator, dildo, bottle of shampoo, or a missle. Underneath the cream-colored cone shaped cap, is the REAL cap, which is a freakin screwtop! Not even a twistoff. Lowly. I can only assume they meant the cone-cap to be used as glassware, so that’s what I did. The aroma was straight-up Adams Extract Vanilla and perfume. Taste also extremely cheap vanilla, and dough. Like cookies that weren’t mixed. Quite sweet, which I usually like, but this is cheap sweetness. Too carbonated for an oak aged ale, and too thin mouthfeel. Left some nice lacing in that cheesy cone-cap though! I can’t believe I typed this much for a bad review. Oh wait, I can, cause it’s fun sometimes. This beer’s asking for it.

Picked up a duel gift pack of Vanilla Oak and Chocolate w/ two snifters at Publix #469. This may be the most beutiful pour I’ve seen on any A-B! Reddish amber, a lager?, offwhite thin head. Alcohol meniscus on the snifter. Smells like a sweet yellow cake. A ton of vanilla flavor. Creamy texture, not a lot of carbonation. Definite oak in the finish. Overall it reminds me of a drug store vanilla perfume. Different, refreshing, but flavor for a beer. Definitly the better one of the two in the box set. Give it to a newbie...

An orangish pour with an aroma of vanilla and alcohol. A malty vanillie flavor that tastes like a cream ale soda with alcohol. A decent palate that is thin but not fizzy. Pleasant surprise.

Very clear, light amber body with little to no head. Light alcohol and vanilla aroma. Sweet, almost too much so, with a strong vanilla extract flavor. Quite artificial. Light bodied, thin. A nice big beer only for those who haven’t had many others.

Two words: Train wreck. This beer makes Celebrate Chocolate look like a good idea.
