Commercial Description:
Michelob Celebrate Vanilla Oak features distinct vanilla, caramel and aged oak flavors for a full-bodied, well-balanced taste and warm aroma. Celebrate Vanilla Oak is brewed using two-row barley, caramel malts, carapils malts as well as imported hops. It is aged on whole vanilla beans and bourbon barrel oak. Ideally served with dessert or as an after-dinner drink, Celebrate Vanilla Oak is also enjoyed in a snifter, allowing the beer’s aromas to be intensified.

24oz bottle(2006)-A medium amber body with a nice medium head that dissipated into a small ring. Aroma of bourbon and alcohol with vanilla on the back end. Taste of vanilla and bourbon with the alcohol coming on the back end. Better than ’05 and a pretty decent brew from AB all considering. Now if they could brew beer like this all the time.

Bottle - 750ml. Nice amber body with moderate carbonation and a thin off-white bubbly head. Fair malty aroma with vanilla, maple (!!) and oaky notes. Alcohol is not very well hidden. Taste is unbalanced and dominated by vanilla flavors. It leaves a short and oversweetened aftertaste. Not much to celebrate...

Tried this one last year. I remember waking up the next morning and seeing a majority of the beer still left in the glass. The aroma was strong vanilla and some bourbon. It tasted like they took a beer made of adjuncts and cranked it up to 10% alcohol and then dropped way too much fake vanilla into the barrel and let it rot for a little while. Instead of honestly trying to make a quality beer, AB is taking their same crap beer and trying to add the characteristics people seek out in beer. Adding vanilla flavor and aging it in a bourbon barrell won’t fix the fact that it is a crappy beer.

24 oz bottle. Pours a dark hazy caramel with a medium sized beige head. Aroma of caramel, toffee, vanilla and cough syrup. Taste is dominated by a caramel toffee, cough syrupy flavor. Hints of vanilla detected. Not drinkable.

beerguy101 brought this to the NorCal tasting as a joke. That’s about the only use I can think of for this beer. Or maybe somehow get the vanilla extract out and use it to bake a cake. Really synthetic nose and flavor.

Amber color with a thin white head. Lots of vanilla extract in the aroma. Taste is bad. Too sweet, the vanilla tastes like straight up extract and there’s not much bourbon in there at all. Thick and syrupy mouthfeel. Still has that AB cheapness to it.

The nose on this had a vanilla and alcohol, and this seems to be off. The smell is like imitation vanilla. The taste is weird. The is some malts and the alcohol is well hidden. But the fake vanilla is all over the place. And I can’t find any oak? Not really bad, as the %10 will make this worth the time, but not something I will try to find again.

2005 24oz. Bottle: First off, if Michelob wants to be taken seriously about their beers, they need to ditch the aluminum screw top on the bottle. It is too reminicent of some cheap 32oz’ers or malt liquor with this packaging. It pours a clear coppery color. There was quite a bit of a fizzing head, that was almost cascading ala Guinness, but all of this mayhem stopped almost immediately. The nose is definitely vanilla, with some fruits hiding behind it. The taste is overpoweringly that of vanilla. Yuck! There are some other flavors trying to make it out of the vanilla, but my taste buds are on overload from it and they can’t pick anything else out of it, except maybe some alcohol. It is harsh and syrupy. I also regret this purchase.
