Commercial Description:
Michelob Celebrate Vanilla Oak features distinct vanilla, caramel and aged oak flavors for a full-bodied, well-balanced taste and warm aroma. Celebrate Vanilla Oak is brewed using two-row barley, caramel malts, carapils malts as well as imported hops. It is aged on whole vanilla beans and bourbon barrel oak. Ideally served with dessert or as an after-dinner drink, Celebrate Vanilla Oak is also enjoyed in a snifter, allowing the beer’s aromas to be intensified.

Amber-red translucent body with pretty much no head and little lacing to speak of. Smell is dominated by vanilla with some wood/oak notes. Malty sweetness, vanilla, and hints of oak dominate the flavor. Light to medium bodied. On the lighter side of medium-bodied, really... Vanilla, oak, with some malt dominate the flavor. Not as drinkable as it could be. Reminds me in a lot of ways of Winter’s Burbon Cask Ale, More complexity with a little less vanilla and oak would make this beer but not quite as good. Worth the 9$ per bottle? Not sure, An okay beer anyway, but not sure I’d get it again.

Interesting. Lots of vanilla and spice, with some brandy and alcohol warmth. The best thing to come from AB that’s for sure.

Pours slightly hazy ruby with a small white head. Definitely oak and vanilla in the aroma. The vanilla, however, is too strong and doesn’t mix well with the powerful alcohol. The mixture is reminiscent of plastic. Tastes like a bland beer with a touch of oak. Dry, lightly alcoholic finish. At least they tried. And the glasses that came in the gift set are pretty nifty.

Sampled at Broudy’s Holiday Beerfest 12/2/2006, Jacksonville FL. Another surprise from AB, since I hold a special contempt for all things Michelob. This beer was actually tasty and enjoyable. Flavor was heavy on the vanilla, and the oak peeked through. A good alcohol hit along with the sweet malt. Interesting.

Good gravy this is just awful. There’s no other way to say it. I’m glad this was a gift and I didn’t pay for it. Bring back the winter 12 packs.

2006 x-mas set...red amber no head present...smells heavy syrupy, very mild oak muddled...instant sweetness, vanilla present...6.5 for flavor would be ideal but I can’t give this a half score so i went ahead with the 7...well done Michelob, well done, an unexpected delight...easy going for the 10% that it is, although the finish is very tainted with pure alcohol

The 24 ounce artillery shell shaped bottle poured a sparkling clear dark amber colored beverage with a small fizzy off-white head that was completely gone in 2 minutes (due to the high alcohol content, maybe?). The aroma was sweet and malty with lots of caramel vanilla and banana presence. I was almost unable to find even a hint of the so called oak present in the name. The body was medium with a soft carbonation and a soft, silky smooth texture. The flavor starts out very sweet - this is where the vanilla really stands out - and stays that way through the medium length finish. It is too sweet for my taste ... like drinking a pop. There is a decided alcohol warmth in the upper chest at the end.

Crappy twist off cap...Pours like soda...fizzes up w/ foam that quickly dies away to nothing. Bubbly and amber in color. Aromas of vanilla and slight bourbon barrel. Reminds me of creme soda; something I occaisionally indulge in(sprecher!), but never savor. Woa, this is one crude beverage! It assaults my mouth w/ intense vanilla(extremely more than creme soda), honey sweet thickness, and some really mis-placed bourbon oak in the finish. What the hell. I guess they were trying to capitolize on a trend here, but this is autrocious. Nothing in this concoction even resembles "beer" flavor. This reminds me of schnapps in a way(horrid). I drink beer b/c I like the flavors of beer (malt, hops, yeast). This is a strong alco-pop. Built for those who can’t appreciate or understand real beer flavors. Gag. Glad I got it on close out at the supermarket, bought against my better judgement, I decided to throw my predjudices to the wind...and they blew right back in my face.
