Commercial Description:
Michelob Celebrate Vanilla Oak features distinct vanilla, caramel and aged oak flavors for a full-bodied, well-balanced taste and warm aroma. Celebrate Vanilla Oak is brewed using two-row barley, caramel malts, carapils malts as well as imported hops. It is aged on whole vanilla beans and bourbon barrel oak. Ideally served with dessert or as an after-dinner drink, Celebrate Vanilla Oak is also enjoyed in a snifter, allowing the beer’s aromas to be intensified.

Pours slightly hazy ruby with a small white head. Definitely oak and vanilla in the aroma. The vanilla, however, is too strong and doesn’t mix well with the powerful alcohol. The mixture is reminiscent of plastic. Tastes like a bland beer with a touch of oak. Dry, lightly alcoholic finish. At least they tried. And the glasses that came in the gift set are pretty nifty.

Light red-amber color, with almost no head. Vanilla and a little malt come through in the aroma.Vanilla taste with a heavy dose of ethanol that comes through in the taste and then permeates into the aroma as you imbibe so that it really doesn’t taste like beer. (almost as if you mixed some cheap vodka and vanilla into a light beer). Thanks to Enniskillen for this bottle too!

Sweet vanillia nose. Water mouthfeel and a taste of cream soda. VERY sweet.

Sampled from 2006 vintage torpedo bottle, courtesy of brewfiend. Pours a clear copper amber brew with a fast dissolving white head that disipates to a white ring and some film top Aroma of herbal spice, vanilla, a touch of wintergreen, and dried oak wood. Taste is medium bodied, light carbonation with flavors of caramel malt, some flowery hop and a touch of vanilla. Finish is slightly metalic, dry with a wood and vanilla aftertaste. Just like its chocolate version, It’s different.

Amber ruby color, no head. Nose of strong pale malts, almost like a russian strong ale it’s so much like a super sweet malt liquor. A bit of hay and dusty vanilla. The flavor is intense with vanilla and sweet plywood. If I was chugging mexican vanilla that had been soaking in particle board, it would probably taste better. The finish is long and sweet, strong carbonation and alcohol. The tail is syrupy. Yeah, I can see why no one likes this.

Bottle - 750ml. Nice amber body with moderate carbonation and a thin off-white bubbly head. Fair malty aroma with vanilla, maple (!!) and oaky notes. Alcohol is not very well hidden. Taste is unbalanced and dominated by vanilla flavors. It leaves a short and oversweetened aftertaste. Not much to celebrate...

An interesting attempt by AB but it fails where it should succeed. The taste has an initial taste of vanilla and maple syrup. Although the vanilla seems a bit artificial. The bourbon oak goes nicely. its pleasant start is interrupted by a lousy after taste. There is not much to praise about,

Lightly hazed copper hue, decent head formation. Intensely sugarry, vanilla nose. Overpowering vanilla flavor (why not let the beer pick it up itself instead of adding it), burnt caramel underneath, fairly sweet and cloying. Still much more character than I was expecting, so not a disappointment in that regard but just a little off balance. A screw cap and no cork, however. They seemed to put a lot of effort into the packaging that it’s a shame.
