A hint of earthiness in the aroma with some vanilla coming through. Smooth flavor but a touch of bitterness in the aftertaste. Pricy that takes away some of the enjoyment of it. I don’t expect to buy it again, but certainly will not turn it down if offered. Shag (1923), Chattanooga, Tennessee, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Nov 5, 2006 A bright orange appearance with almost no head. A caramel, raisin, and alcohol aroma. The flavor is quite interesting with vanilla, oranges, honey, and lemons. The alcohol really shows through from beginning to end on this one. The twist off cap is still cracking me up. Overall it was not as bad as I had feared. pantani (1902), Salinas, California, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Feb 23, 2006 Aroma is oak, flour, butter, raspberries, vanilla, cherry coke. body is brown white orange hue. Taste is fruity with oak, caramel, vanilla and dried fruit along with some hazelnut. Palate is too light for the alcohol content, but if this is really 10% it is hidden well. sneagrams3 (1761), St. Louis, Missouri, USA

Good vanilla, slight alcohol nose. Definite oak smokiness in the nose. Light mouthfeel, but still good. As far as flavor goes, the alcohol was prevalent, also obviously vanilla and oak, plus a little caramel sweetness. Flavorful but light with minimal carbonation. oldrtybastrd (1846), Morlautern, Germany/Great Falls, Montana, USA

Pours medium amber, head didn’t last long. Strong vanilla aroma. Taste is all vanilla and some caramel. Alcohol is masked well, doesn’t seem to be 10%. Very sweet, wouldn’t want to drink more than 1 glass. Would be great with a dessert. Disappointed in the packaging, shiny display box then a cheap shrink-wrapped bottle with a 40oz screw cap. | 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Jan 5, 2007 Amber-red translucent body with pretty much no head and little lacing to speak of. Smell is dominated by vanilla with some wood/oak notes. Malty sweetness, vanilla, and hints of oak dominate the flavor. Light to medium bodied. On the lighter side of medium-bodied, really... Vanilla, oak, with some malt dominate the flavor. Not as drinkable as it could be. Reminds me in a lot of ways of Winter’s Burbon Cask Ale, More complexity with a little less vanilla and oak would make this beer but not quite as good. Worth the 9$ per bottle? Not sure, An okay beer anyway, but not sure I’d get it again. decaturstevo (2010), decatur, Tennessee, USA

A malty vanillie flavor that tastes like a cream ale soda with alcohol. A decent palate that is thin but not fizzy. Pleasant surprise. TheBeerLover (1019), DC Metro Area, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Apr 28, 2006 I’m a big fan of vanilla in beer, and when you have a beer brewed with vanilla beans, and aged in bourbon barrels, I’m all over it. Here was a chance for AB to hit one out of the ball park, but with all the speciality beers they do, this one was just a pop fly. This beer pours to a brilliant, deep amber color, with a small, tan head that fades, and a soft to moderate amount of carbonation. The nose on this beer is very inviting, with aromas of sweet vanilla bean, caramel, and hints of oak. The palate is thin, with lean caramel, and sweet malt flavor, paired with hints of oak and vanilla. This beer finishes with more sweet malt and oak up front, then ends with a sweet vanilla, and warming heat that lingers. A nice effort, but this beer could have been so much better if AB just had the balls to brew a beer, that was all about flavor and character, and forget about offending their core Budweiser/Michelob drinkers.
