Commercial Description:
Our Rye-P.A. is a robust beer with distinct bitterness that is similar to many IPA’s, but balanced by complex malt flavor and the spiciness of rye.

Bottle from the Fall 2009 Michelob sampler pack. The pour is warm copper colored and carbonation is ample. The first take on aroma is pleasant and then the you realize the rye, hops, and piney faint citrus aromas. note: I agree with heemer77 about the yeast. respectable beer from a macro.

12 oz. bottle- I’ve never had a Rye P.A. before, so this is new to me, pours dark amber with little head. Aroma is bread and malt, the flavor is very malty and somewhat sweet. Overall it lacks depth and isn’t very good, the worst michelob beer I’ve had.

12 oz bottle. Pours a clear dark red brown with a rocky off white head, strange. Aroma is light on the hops for an IPA,a bit grainy, some rye, a bit of dark fruit, muddled all around. Flavor starts with lots of caramel and toffee. Gets some fruitiness and picks up just a bit of chocolate. Very strange. Some hop bitterness in the finish but so little hop presence. Medium body and a very soft carbonation. Really weird beer, tastes more like an amber or weak brown ale than an ipa. After warming some, the hop flavors get a bit better so i will raise the score slightly.

I was actually surprised here. Clear amber (almost copper) pour. Thick tan head and spotty lace. Aroma is this beers downfall. Toffee and corn. Citric hops, toasted malts, caramel, and toffee. Bitter & dry finish. Bitterness lingers

Bottle from sampler pack. Pours a clear, dark amber color with a decent, clingy, beige head that lasts. Taste is of roasted malt, pine, citrus, caramel, toffee and spice. Has a nice bitterness to it. Similar aroma. Very easy to drink and rather enjoyable. For the price, this is a really nice offering from Michelob/A-B.

12 oz bottle. Aroma of caramel, rye, citrus. Pours brownish amber with a rocky head. Nice lacing. Tastes of rye bread, caramel; bitter. Light-bodied, lightly carbonated. Bitter finish. Not terrible, but not very well done.

Pours a transparent brown with a small off white head. Aroma is rye, malt, hops, spices. Flavor is rye, malt, biscuit, bitter hops, a bit soapy with a bitter finish. Surprised to taste the rye and hops so much in this beer. Good effort from Michelob, keep em coming.

12 ounce bottle from a sampler. Pours a clear amber color with a moderate frothy head. Fair head retentiion and lacing. Aroma of caramel, peach and other fruit notes and a spicy rye finish. Taste is caramel and rye. Medium bodied. Pretty good beer.
