Strong pea-soup aroma is completely unappealing. Clear pale golden colour with decent white head that recedes to cover with some marginal lacing. Mild sweetness and light peppery spiciness to the flavour but the DMS overwhelms. Moderate carbonation and very light body with somewhat watery texture. Bottle sampled with ClarkVV and muzzlehatch.

After drinking this at the mass market eatery...okay it was Hooters...I felt a longing for the absent carbs. This beer brings even more shame to A-B name and that's a damn hard thing to do, pure crap!

March, 2004: Pasteurised Bottle. Head to Head with Coors Light Beer. The Ultra has the more attractive bottle. Taste is dry, light and unpleasant with corn and chemical flavours. Watery appearance. The Coors is slightly better. This Ultra is damn near undrinkable. [1.3]
Jan 2007 In an open and blind comparison with Cusquena, Brahma, Palma Louca and Cerveza Aguila this came off as the least attractive. The appearance is very pale. There is a light yet active carbonation. Something bubblegum and champagne about the aroma. Tastes initially slightly sweet - touch of violets, touch of aspartame, touch of Love Hearts or sherbet. Mouthfeel is quite dry - pulling on the mouth a bit yet very soft. Something chemical and vaguely unpleasant about the whole thing. [1.5]

Aroma - a clean glass. Appearance - young popcorn yellow. Flavor - popcorn. Palate - please pass the butter. Ah man! This should have been called something like "Diet Michelob Light." If I want a beverage with the lowest amount of carbohydrates, bottled water with a shot of lime juice would do fine and not cost as much.

Bottle, born on 8/21/07, sampled side-by-side with room-temperature bottled water. Poured clear, bright, well.. damn near clear (just a light yellow tint.. short cap of synthetic white head after a minute or so.. the water was a little lighter in color). The nose didn’t pick up much.. some sweet grains, pale malts, and light corn.. non-offensive, but almost non-existent. The flavor also had faint malty sweetness (corn and pale malts) with mild dry dusty notes where hops should be.. tacky, but otherwise non-offensive finish. Extremely light-bodied with a water-like consistency, save for the aforementioned tackiness.. the high carbonation was the greatest difference from the water (which was still), and only served to make it harder to drink and make me belch.

Born on Sept 22, 2004. Little fizzy gold color. Little to no head. Aroma is ….? A light bodied pale lager. Malts? Hops? Are you kidding me? The “I can’t taste my beer” folks must have been talking about this stuff. There is a slightly discernable lemony taste, but that may be from the carbonation. I’m surprised there is even 95 calories in this stuff. Lively carbonation. I guess there is some beer flavor here, no bad flavors but no good ones either. OK enough of this stuff for beer #2000, bring on the double bastard! Mouthfeel is thin Finish is clean and dry. Aftertaste is neutral.

This brew poured a large head of fine white bubbles and a weak watery urine yellow colored body. It has a very mild hop aroma, good lacing and a watery and thin rice beer flavor. No thanks, glad to get this one rated and off my list. Never again!

Bottle. Pours a straw body with a skunky aroma. Taste is simple with grain and a very thin body. Sucks. This is my least favorite beer in the world. Suck it AB.
