This brew pours amber with a thick yellow-beige head. Very malty aroma. Flavor has good notes of caramel and roastedness to the finish. Nice body, not a thin beer. I think this is under rated. rudolf (1774), Buffalo, New York, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Jun 12, 2008 Goodbar Beer Club. Rich gold, thin white head. Nose is herbal hops, minty/spicy notes, light to medium toffee malts. Flavor is rich malt, herbal & spicy hops, huge malt finish - almost meaty. On the verge of being cloying. swoopjones (1904), Buffalo, New York, USA

Aroma has some malty sweetness but rather non descript. Flavor is lacking: some malts sweeter & pilsner. Nothing special BigBeer45 (693), Troy, Michigan, USA
| 2.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 4/5 | 7/20 | Aug 30, 2009 Bottle, has a very clear medium to deep gold pour with a hint of amber and brown colors, has a short lived white head that hangs around as a ring and cover, obviously, this has more color than the typical macro beer, leaves little lacing on the sides of the glass, light malt aromas of bread with faint hops, grain and sweetness, some faint peas aroma in the background, flavor of malt and bread with a very present hop bitterness, there is a touch of honey sweetness but this sweetness is minute on the palate, also, a touch of off flavor in this beer, mouth feel is good, this beer could have been a great beer but the nose and flavor have some off-ness, which is unfortunate, I would have given this drink a better grade if it was not for the off fragrance and taste. Taste of a typical Helles with nothing to write home about. I’ve had worse. hayduke (1654), Eureka, California, USA
| 2.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 2/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 10/20 | Jul 16, 2009 From a 12 bottle obtained in a trade with Erik of indiana, this pouerd a clear an light honey yellow with a small white head and virtually no lacing. Nose of sweatsocks and rotten apples. Watery and fizzy mouthfeel. Flavor is malty with a touch of fruit. Finish dry and bland. This is simply a very ordinary beer. lumberjack (178), Michigan, USA
| 2.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 2/10 | 1/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Feb 16, 2007 Had this under the alias "Big Mac." Hazy light brown color. Abundant yet quickly disappearing white foamy head, no lacing. Having read some reviews prior to trying, I had low expectations. However, I found this brew to be better tasting than the reviews would have one believe. Still, I would not purchase this one again. sleestak (186), Williamston, Michigan, USA
| 2.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 2/5 | 4/10 | 3/5 | 9/20 | Aug 16, 2008 Pours a honey yellow with a filmy white head despite the vigorous pour. Low key aroma of grains and malt. Taste is mostly inoffensive malt and light hop spiciness. Sour finish with a not entirely pleasant aftertaste. A poor attempt at a mass appeal beer by a brewer who can do much better.
