Slightly reddish, golden color; small, white, fizzy and slightly frothy head. Aroma wheat, yeast, and light spices. Flavor very heavily wheaty; light spice; although it isn’t offensive, the 8% alcohol is very noticeable, producing a twinge in the mouth and a warmth in the throat and exhale. Medium body. I typically like this style pretty well, but this beer is pretty lame.

This has to be the most boring beer labeled "Grand Cru" I’ve ever had. Appearance is a light golden color with minimal head. Aroma is like Sprite soda, with the addition of clove/coriander. Flavor is very mild and refreshing. Quite nice for a hot summer night, which is not typically when I’m reaching for a Belgian beer. Mouthfeel is quite light and refreshing. If there was a big market for "Belgian style ale that drinks like a light beer," then this stuff would go over like crazy. Still, I would weakly recommend. I got this beer via my guest subscription to the Microbrew of the Month club.

Tastes like a berliner weiss combined with a farmhouse ale. Really bizarre and not as complex as hoped for. The finish is too clean and doesn’t let any flavors linger. Alcohol as well hidden as it gets.

BOTMC Selection August 2008: Initial pour into a pint glass was disappointing, producing a very pale, hazy yellow body, topped by a small white head of foam. Slight herbiness in the aroma of this ale, though it is quite difficult to pick up (I might have it too cold, though even after a couple minutes of warming up, the aroma was hard to pick up). Texture of this ale is a bit on the slick side, owing in some way to it’s high sugar content, medium to heavy mouth-feel, with a bit of sweetness throughout the flavor profile. Light hopping, with some spice to the palate, though I couldn’t determine specifics, followed by a slight metallic aftertaste. Overall, I was expecting more from this ale, so perhaps I set my expectations too high. Nevertheless, the herbs and spices were not as evident as I had hoped, and the appearance was a little off-putting, to say the least. Meh.

Pours almost as if it is flat. Looks like it could be a Bud/Miller/Coors with the color and how clean it looks. Aroma; candy, herbal, coriander, but something seems off. Flavor is a little bitter but then fairly sweet. Maybe some candied sugar? Long finish. Doesn’t feel or taste like 8%. Overall impression, it confuses me. I do not understand what direction he is going with this beer.

Bottle, courtesy Tony at Oldsmar Tap House. Pours a transparent pale golden straw color, with creamy lacing a fairly prominent white frothy head. Floral hops in the nose, various spices, grass, chalk. Big herbal kick on the first sip. Fairly malty, with plum and citrus. Nice bitter finish. Creamy, brisk, crisp, drinkable, exceeds my expectations based on the appearance, as it basically looks like a pale lager.
