From bottle. Pours transparent amber (pretty dark for a pale)with tall quickly dissipating yellow head. Aroma is interesting; malt, spice, citrus. Flavor is surprisingly good, with some fruity esters and an easy finish, similar to an octoberfest. A little watery overall. I wasn't expecting much and just bought this for a friend who likes pale beers. This one is a pleasant surprise. Very easy to drink repeatedly.

I have met Shiner Bock. I knew it well. This is no Shiner Bock. There are however somethings to be grateful for. Not that this was anything that I loved. But to me perhaps a "truer" bock.

Pale amber, foamy thin off white head. Smells wonderful for this pitiful looking beer. Nice malt aroma, vanilla, a sort of sourness. It tastes OK, a little bit of spice and a late bitterness. A little bit of a metallic taste but an alright beer.

This is a bock beer wonder why its not listed that way. Anyway I have yet to taste a Celis I did not like but this is not my perfered style of beer. Yet it is refreshing and flavorfull. Mildly spicy with a bit of a sweetnsour flavor. Much better than Celebrator to me I would recomend it to any fan of bock beer.

Light copper color out of the bottle with a fluffy, almost yellow head. Sweet alcohol nose with some spice in it. Malts dominate with white sugar, caramel and honey sweetness. Nice bitter hops in the finish. I remember this beer being better when it really was from Texas. Still, a very easy drinking beer.

Amber colored with a very sweet honeyish nose. Medium bodied, highly carbonated, fizzy. Sweet honey was dominant, some faint fruitiness. Honey gives way to a quick dry finish.

Draft, on Premises at Michigan Brewing, which purchased the Celis brand from Miller. The owner, Bobby Mason, told me this was actually a pale ale, but some quirk in Texas law requires it to be labeled as a "Bock." It's darker than the Amber Lager I had just sampled. Still and all, its profile is a rather plain ”beer,” but it is malty and a little roasty.
