Pours a coppery amber brew with a fast dissolving off-white head. Aroma of multi-grain malt, some grassy hops and a touch of yeast. Taste is medium bodied, lightly carbonated with a strange vegetable flavor with caramel malt and yeast. Finish is semi-dry with a vegetable aftertaste. It’s an odd duck of bock beers claiming to be a Belgian ale. JK (2961), Richfield, Minnesota, USA

| 2.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 9/20 | Oct 19, 2007 Thanks to JK for sharing. Amber color with no head. Grainy aroma with a soured grain taste. Nothing to this and nothing redeeming about it. Just... bleargh. LinusStick (1848), Moon Twp, suburb of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Oct 2, 2007 Respectable but nothing to get excited about. Aroma of caramel malt. Pour was a dark light copper with a one finger off white head. Taste was so so. Yeasty and very sweet. Caramel and molasses mostly. Wet finish. I wouldn’t buy again but I would drink if it was all that was available. kp (8500), Woodstock, Georgia, USA

| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 13/20 | Aug 19, 2007 Poured a copper light brown clear color with nice amount of froathy white head. Aroma is a bit weak sugary and corny, definitely the worst part of the beer. Flavor is pretty mellow and watery but some malt sweetness and hints of belgian spices. Overall, I think this is a good sub in for a lager on a summer day. Non-beer geek friends will like it and it isnt really that bad for group gatherings. weeare138 (936), Collegeville, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Aug 16, 2007 Appears a semi-transparent copper toned amber with a 3 finger off-white head that slowly fades into a chunky head of sea foam. Sticky streaks of lacing are left around the glass.
Smell is of grain, cocoa, toffee, warm peanuts, and mild cream.
Taste is of the mentioned aromas with some bitter grassiness interfering with the malty grains and cakey yeast. This needs to actually be less complex, IMO, to be a standout beer. Keeping it simple isn’t always bad.
Mouthfeel is medium bodied with a feel akin to a small porter. Light sweetness, and a gummy dougheyness makes for an odd blend.
