On tap @ MBC. Slightly fruity aroma, pale pinkish color with a hint of cloudiness. Light raspberry flavor without being sickly sweet or cloying. I enjoyed it, but it pales in comparison with another great Michigan raspberry brew, Founders Rubaeus. Still, when my growler of Celis White is gone, I’ll probably get a growler fill of this.

I had been rather curious about this one. Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a salmon color with a small white head. The aroma is dry and musty with a faint hint of some vague fruits. The flavor is dry and wheaty with some vague dry fruits. The fruit flavor is totally unidentifiable as raspberry. Rather unimpressive.

One bottle from BOTW. Small white head with Raspberry aroma. Flavor seemed to have more lemon in it than Raspberry. Not sticky at all. Easy summer drink.

From bottle

Poured light yellow. Bubbly, fast dissipating white head. Aroma strong. Hints of candy, vanilla, and raspberry syrup. Flavor upfront of wheat, artificial raspberry syrup. Aftertaste sweet, very sweet, like I loaded up on nutrasweet, aspertame. Carbonation was very present. Thin bodied. Mouthfeel was sticky.

Unfortunately, I cracked this 12 oz bottle without realizing that it has to be the worst fruit beer I’ve ever put my lips up to. Artificial berry aromas all the way; I cannot even discern any semblance of malt. It smells like raspberry-flavored lip gloss or something else waxy. It tastes medicinal and perfumy. I envision a raspberry snow cone that is falsely blue colored. Ouch. I can’t go on; I can’t find anything constructive to say. Drainsville.

Bottle. Weird color-shapeshifting pink-light amber with foamy white head that leaves nice gulp rings. Taste is slightly tart, a bit on the crystal light end of the fruit beer spectrum which explains the low rating. Did I mention it has a weird artificial taste? Very sweet and light - medium bodied. At least it has some flavor, but it’s low-end.

Draft sampler at MBC. Light raspberry purple color with a small white head that diminished quickly. Soft sweet raspberry aroma. Light to medium body with a sticky texture. Moderate sour raspberry flavor with a medium tart finish.

CELIS bottle, dammit

Pours with Sprite-like carbonation and a rosy tint. Head is full but fleeting. Aroma is cotton candy. Flavor is raspberry and clove, with the latter VERY heavy in the finish. Reminds me of smoking a clove cigarette, minus the throat-numbing effect. Props for the nostaligia trip. Good beer; very different from what one would expect.
