I’m going from memory on this. I have yet to try this beer with its new home. I had it when it was avail in Texas. The nose was ok with a slight syrup/malt feel. The head was a small disappearing lace. The overall taste was crisp and refreshing. The raspberry flavor came off like an extract instead of real fruit.

2005 bottle consumed 5/28/2005. Pours a clear pink, with touches of light copper and a moderate amount of rapidly receding, bubbly, pink-tinged white head. Little to no lacing. Aroma of raspberries, fresh and soft, but not really juicy or overly aromatic. Hints of vanilla and light yeast, not definitively Belgian in nature, and in fact, I don’t get much in the way of anything other than light raspberries. Maybe some soda water. . .Flavor begins with lightly tart raspberry, backed by a hugely watery mouthfeel and light, dry papery notes. Touches of mildly sweet sugars, hint of vanilla and raspberry seeds. Dry on the fnish, with way too much wateriness. Bubbly, artificial carbonation is overdone. At least its not too sweet, I guess.

Sample at the Mondiale 2005: Poured a light reddish color ale with a bubbly head with minimal retention. Aroma is totally dominated by fake raspberry cough syrup. The chemical smell is overpowering and gross. Taste is also exclusively dominated by this horrible smell. This is a shame that Celis name is attached to such a foul drink.

Looks like white zinfindel with a wisp of a head. Obvious raspberry smell but a strong toasted coconut and malt aroma also. Raspberry comes through strong but is matched by the cookie flavor. Light in body with a tart finish. Actually quite distinct, if not terribly complex. A very different beer than the one made in Austin.

Clear light copper with very slight ring of head. Candy-like aroma with some cookie-dough in both flavour and aroma. Light sour bitterness in the finish. Bottle sampled with MartinT, muzzlehatch and Rastacouere at the Sunset Grill in Boston.

New England Road Trip Easter ’05 with MartinT, tiggmtl and Rastacouere, beer #69. 12 oz bottle shared with the gang at Sunset Grill. Extremely pale and clear orange, no head really...raspberries and cream in light, sweet nose...simpering, somewhat artificial Sweet Tarts character in the body, juicy but with little real beer character, thin with peppery carbonation. Did we have bad bottles of this and the Grand Cru, or have they simply been destroyed by Michigan BC? Try for yourself and see...or don’t.

An awful apricot soft drink with dirty raspberry candies...Fizzy, bland and watery old cask feel...Immensely boring...

Disappointing return to Pierre’s work. Nice fruity notes. Average look with slight ruddish sheen. Cloying fruit and slight skunk factor. Drinkable, but not ourtstanding.
