Commercial Description:
Our interpretation of a legendary style is not for the timid. Strong, assertively hoppy and dangerously seductive. A skillful blend of three premium barley malts with generous amounts of Northern Brewer and Cascade Hops creates a special ale to satisfy even the most demanding palate.

In short: An intense resinous sharp IPA. Good stuff.
How: Tap at Hop Cat (Grand Rapids, Michigan)
The look: Clear copper body with a very small off-white head
In long: Caramel and citrus on the nose. Body is well malted, this is not a hop-juice beer. Round caramel, earthy citrus and earthy oranges. Truckload of malts balance by a tuckload of hops. Medium-high bitterness. My kind of IPA. Surprisingly I got some alcohol bite in the finish(!?!). A bit too drinkable, that thing is dangerous… High Seas are treacherous.

draft- nice piney/citrus aroma backup up by significant floral hop flavor. Enjoyed this one.

Hazy amber, but with a great frothy head. Mostly grapefruit aroma, but also a bit of pine. Taste follows the aroma profile, with a touch of sweetness and a nice, not overwhelming alcohol finish. I was ambivalent about the first couple of bottles in the sixer, but its really grown on me. Definitely is MBC’s best offering with the exception of their exemplary Imperial Stout and Imperial IPA.

Tasted 5/31/08. 12oz bottle. Hazy with a dark amber hue. Off white ring of head. Sweet aromas of grapefruit melons and apricot. Good hoppy aromas. Medium bodied with sweet malts. Sugary sweetness. Nice bitterness with a lingering finish. Mild malt character. Tart and all hops. Good amount of well masked alcohol. Decent.

Bottle. Pours a medium amber with a full white head. Very citrusy nose, with several malts coming through. The initial flavor is sweet citrusy fruit followed up by a lot of malt, and a slightly bitter finish. Nice flavor, fairly complex in how its flavor changes as you drink. No hint of alcohol in the flavor, so the 7% could sneak up on you.

Bottle. Pours a slightly hazy amber color with a longlasting off-white head. Hasa malty hoppy citrus aroma. Sweet malty hoppy bitter flavor with citrus hints. Sweetish malty finish with a long bitter aftertaste.

Bottle. Plenty of hops and plenty of malts, almost too much. Verges on being chewy. Less than the clean follow-through of a Two-Hearted, for example. But still tasty. Hazy, dark amber pour. Off-white, frothy head. Suprisngly light aroma — sweet with malts, caramel and cookie, with hints of grapefruit and resin. The flavor is moderately sweet and moderately bitter, turning slightly more bitter in the long, somewhat sticky finish. Medium body, fizzy carbonation. Dry finish.

Found this buried in the back of the shelf at my local party store. An alright IPA. First taste is like any other average India, but ends surprisingly smooth, almost too smooth, without a very bitter/ hoppy aftertaste that you expect, you could consider it to be watery. Overall it is an alright IPA, but could use a bit more flavor, especially at the end.
