draft. cloudy yellow orange, minimal head. nice floral hop aroma - not overwhelming. moderate pine and citrus over a malty base. a round sweetness is also apparent. slight alcohol warming. malt backbone gives it a moderately thick mouthfeel, and keeps the bitter in check. one of the maltier imperials i’ve had - makes it deceptively smooth. quite enjoyable

Bottle, picked up from brewery (no label, but named Imperial IPA). Body is a nice copper color with a small and frothy head. Aromas are of citrus hops and a little touch of pine. Flavor is bitterly hoppy... grapefruit and pine... that give way to a caramel malt presence that seems just a bit underpowered for all of the hops. Alcohol is obvious and little attempt is made to hide it. There is a bit of a peppery edge to this beer as well. An interesting contrast to some of the very malt heavy Californian IPA’s in that the malt is there and gives a nice thick mouthfeel, but the hops still never disappear from the limelight.

Draft sample at new brewpub under the name of Imperial IPA. Poured dark copper color with moderate frothy white head that mostly lasted and had good lacing. Heavy sour citrus hoppy aroma. Medium body with slick texture. Heavy hoppy bitter flavor with a heavy bitter finish of long duration. This is a standout beer.

MiBGF 07, identified just as Imperial IPA: Clean coppery hue with some foam on top. The nose is greeted with piney and resiny hop vapours, grapefruit, dusty, earthy and pepper esters. Some strange minty notes about as well. The taste is very balanced crisp hop bitterness, caramel and bready malts and a subdued citric presence. The finish is a little spicy. The mouth feel is lush and warming with a slight bite. This got better as it warmed a turned into a really nice beer.

A wondeful IPA, full of flavor and character. I found myself wanting more and more! Couldn’t get enough of this brew, from start to finish, crisp, smooth, and punchy to the last. Deliscious!

Had on tap at Oak Cafe. Aroma of citrus hops and a little tingliness. Flavor was very hoppy with a little bitterness and very citrusy. Very solid body. Drinking a pint of this was kind of tough.

On tap @ Oak Cafe: Copper color with a white head. Aroma of citrus, some grapefruit, some lightly sweet malts come through as well. Flavor, grapefruit and caramel, this one was pretty bitter up front, it did have a pretty good malt backbone to it. I was impressed by this one.
