Commercial Description:
A deep golden-orange hue provides the backdrop for a well-balanced, medium bodied ale. Hop flavor and aroma are distinctly American with a spicy, citrus finish.

Editor’s note: Sold as Mackinac Summer Ale (5% ABV) in Sweden. (2008)

Bottles @ 2006 Bacardi Party on Mackinac Island. Pours orange with a pleasant aroma of caramel, orange, and perhaps banana. Palate is medium and somewhat fizzy. Lingering flavor.

Bottle... Clear light amber ale with a small, wispy, off-white head. Butterscotch nose with additional notes of earthy hops. Caramel-sweet flavor with some hops thrown in seemingly as an afterthought. Medium-bodied with a mildly creamy mouthfeel and middle-of-the-road carbonation. Finishes sweet, then crisp and modestly bitter. Almost the very definition of a solid English IPA.

Shared a bottle with Duane. Hazy light honey color. Faint citrusy aroma. One dimensional, light citrus hop flavor. Just a bit of malt to back it up. Nothing offensive about this one and it was easy to drink.

Bottle from Michigan Peddler on Mackinac Island. Pours a translucent orange/amber color with a medium off-white head and spotty lacing. Aroma of citrusy hops and caramel malt. Medium-bodied and dry with an underlying harsh hops bitterness. Citrus and sweet malt flavors are apparent as well. The finish is dry and hoppy. Above average overall.

Bottle from Sean. Thanks. Pours out a bright brown color with a yellowish head. Smell is full of bananas and sweet fruity flavors. Taste is not near what I thought it would be based on the smell. Hopped up and kind of bitter, without much of a citrus fruity presence at all. The smell leads you to believe the beer is going to almost be a fruit beer, but the taste proves that it is, in fact, an american pale ale. Not a bad beer, could be a pretty good session beer. Seemed to have more of a kick than a 5.5% beer to me..
