Pours transparent brown with a small head and decent lacing. Flavor is less than aroma and not very strong. Palate is a little sticky but mostly clean. I was a little dissapointed in the flavor and overall not very impressed. JK (2961), Richfield, Minnesota, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Oct 3, 2006 Surprisingly good considering the median score of 2.7. Light brown/red, lots of carbonation and a thin head. Smells like a dunkel, lots of malt and rotting fruit. Flavor is also much like a dunkel as well as qualities of a nut brown ale. There is more sweet malt, carmel and roasted nuts as well. At the top of its class for a traditional brown ale. mvp (74), Harper Woods, Michigan, USA
| 2.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 9/20 | Jul 29, 2006 Dark brown, clear appearance. Does have nut/almond flavor. MBC makes other beers that are better than this one. I’ll spend my money on those beers instead. Cornfield (4966), Oak Forest, Illinois, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Jul 12, 2006 Good looking brew - a clear chestnut with a lofty, creamy tan head. Has a nice aroma of hot toast, caramel, nuts, and a touch of butterscotch. Light and fluffy in the mouth. Tastes of caramel, light roasted malts, and a nutty, earthy bitterness. Not bad.

| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Jul 3, 2006 Made a good appearance, poured a red hued brown with a foamy head that settled into a thin lacing, minimal amount of sticking, good carbonation.
Had a toasted malty nose, grainy with a light butteriness, nutty and a subtle fruitiness.
A malty crisp and smooth medium bodied mouthfeel, good drinkability.
Nice malty taste, toasted grain and fruity, a mild earthy hoppiness, nutty and a nutty yeasty and fruity malt finish.
A tasty and balanced brown from Michigan Brewing, one of their better offering, a welcome addition to my area.

| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | May 7, 2006 Bottle from brewpub- Pours deep copper body with a thin beige froth siding with the edge of the glass. Aroma is straight up malt with mild chocolate notes and some caramel. Sweet chocolate and caramel malts with a hint of raisin bread. Sweet, almost cloying finish with moderate carbonation. Too one dimensional with all the sweetness and lacks any real balance. Tmoney99 (4779), Cincinnati, Ohio, USA
| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Feb 27, 2006 Draft sampler at MBC. Deep brown color with an average off-white head that diminished slowly. Small roasted malt sweet aroma. Medium body. Soft roasted malt and nut flavor with a smooth medium finish.
