Aroma is rich and roasty with lots of coffee and burnt malts. Some dark fruits hiding in there as well. Flavor is very rich, dark, and bitter. Lots of coffee flavors at the beginning with a malty and roasty middle and a lightly sweet and very toasty finish. Flavors at the end are bubblegum and licorice. Very tasty. sheatripper (863), Brooklyn, New York, USA

Aroma of roasty malts (Italian roast coffee) with some dried pit-fruit notes. Roasty chocolate and coffee malt flavor with some charred-leaf smokiness and a slight pruney tartness. Picked up on some black licorice and even bubblegum flavors after a while. Smooth palate with fine carbonation. Pretty good "Impy" porter. Sammy (4051), Toronto, Ontario, Canada

| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jul 30, 2007 From a growler bought at the brewery. Big tan head and an opaque black body. The rich, burnt malt flavor comes through first. The hops come in slowly to provide a balance to the initial sweetness. Full-bodied flavor with a silky smooth mouth feel. As strong as a good stout. The head lasted till the bottom of the pour.
