Commercial Description:
This ESB (Extra Special Bitter) displays the subtle copery hue of "Old Gold." Its mighty depth of flavor will awaken taste buds and complements "pub" fare such as lamb and game. It is a natural accompaniment with spicy foods. Bronze medal winner at the 1998 World Beer Championships.

I have to believe this brewery’s stock is highly underpriced on this site - not enough marketing? well - the review, nice amber color with formidable foamy head which hangs around, Yes, you do not have to be a professional to detect the Ringwood colored olfactory and gustatory notes. Nice and spicey with good hoppiness for a bitter.

Nice frothy white head. Caramel sweet hops aroma. Slightly cloudy light golden orange. More caramel in the flavor with a bit of malt. Decent hops presence in the finish but only slightly bitter. An ok bitter.

Lighter amber color, big white head. Pleasant hop aroma, some malt underneath. Flavor was chewy with caramelly malt, a decent dose of hops on the end but not as much as the aroma would lead you to believe. Soft and smooth mouthfeel. Pretty nice.

(Bottle) Pours a medium, frothy, white head and a copper body. Floral nose with a tad of caramel. Nice bitter taste with a butter and spice undertone. Very impressed with this breweries capacity to produce quality brews of different styles. Good.

Pale straw gold in color with a bit of a chill haze, nice finger high head of solidly firm froth that changed some as it drifted down, started whitish as a soft beige-like yellow but as it settled the yellow vanished and went greyish. A thin collar and broken, thickly webbed curtains of lace stick well around most of the glass. Aroma has a very dulled lemony citrus mixed with a grassy edge and just a tad on the dry side. Taste is a little short lived, mostly located mid palate to the finish is where most of the flavors decide to take effect with a slight sharp grassy hop bitterness with citrus and wood poking around the edges. Malts come through light but present with a dryness of paper. Not all that appetizing to me for some reason, it picks up some strange notes of iced tea, watery cola, and cardboardish things as it warms. Feel is alright I guess, weakened front, thin and a tad watery, but the middle and finish gain some slight fullness and smudges of hopped bitterness and some light dryness fading off, but the thin/watery feel seems to stay within through out the stint of each sip and/or gulp. Nothing to get excited about here, slightly better then average for an ESB, but not by much in my book.

Copper-gold, big frothy head. Wild flower aroma, some caramel and citrus. Together they all make pleasant combination. Clean, maybe slightly oily body. Clean biter flavour that is always welcome. Wild rose, herbal hop aftertaste. Very easy to drink; it does have relaxing abilities. Every few sips you will notice some warming alcohol.

Pours an almost clear light orange with a good sized frothy white head. Floral hops and citrus dominate the nose. Hoppy start with considerable fizz, ending fairly smooth with a nice bitter flavor lingering. A decent beer.

Pours a slightly hazy dark blonde with a 2.0 cm white head. Aroma is of hops and some orange citrus. Start is carbonated only to finish with lots of hops and a smooth bitterness. I am not an expert when it comes to the bitter style, but this is decent, although it seems like it can be confused with an IPA.
