Pours cloudy brown with a small head and great lacing. Flavor matches aroma. Palate is tart. A tasty brew that I can imagine would be even better by the pint with some pub-grub. hoplover406 (204), Crofton, Maryland, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Mar 1, 2008 Very drinkable session ale that deserves a slightly higher rating overall. This brewery does almost all of their ales in the British tradition, and they do a pretty good job overall. Very fortunate to have these folks here in Syracuse. Slepkov (18), Ithaca, Alabama, USA
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | Jan 12, 2008 The bottle lies, as a beast should. This ale is not monsterous in hops, instead, it is extremely smooth and creamy (or buttery even). Body is light and the carbonation, subtle. The only beast that this awakens is my inner self telling me to have six more. Very very drinkable. An excellent offering from an exceptional brewery. SSSteve (2073), Atlanta, Georgia, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Jan 5, 2008 hazy gold pour with a small white head. buttery, caramel, lemon aroma. not much to this one. flavor is very simple and light with notes of butter(diacetyl in suppose) and a hint of peachy hops. jcr (1162), Jasper, Indiana, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Dec 23, 2007 Bottle. Hazy amber. Diminishing white head. Hop aroma — flowers and grapefruit. Hints of malty caramel. The flavor is lightly sweet and moderately bitter and moderately acidic. Medium body, watery texture. Very dry, peppery finish that is lasting. Soft carbonation that is slightly fizzy in the mouth. This is either a weak IPA or a strong ESB — a U.S. version in either case. Interesting, but the dryness seems to drive the flavors apart more than they should be in an ESB. RblWthACoz (963), Brooklyn, New York, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Sep 29, 2007 Pours a hazed amber gold. Nose is a sweet tone with a bitter hoppy edge. Flavor is doughy with a slight bitter tone and a slightly larger sweet edge. Feel is slightly thick with bubble on the tongue and a thicker liquid feel. Overall pretty smooth and drinkable. I have had a few of this breweries beers over the past day and I have to say I am fairly impressed. nuplastikk (1197), Madison, Wisconsin, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Sep 25, 2007 12oz bottle. Light to medium golden amber color. Relatively true to style, closer to most English ESBs than American ones. Lightly carbonated. Floral aromas and a full on hop bitterness dominate. Delicious beer, would love to have on draft. emobassfoo (178), Webster, New York, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Aug 11, 2007 Notes: Light-gold crystal clear color with a white head and some nice lacing. Bitter herbal smell (ringwood?). Smells different though... in a good way. Lots of herbs in the flavor; something tarragon like. Bitter on the palate but really smooth. Yummy brew that hits the spot for any time of the year. All these beers in the Middle Ages variety pack have been ultra fresh too.
