Pours a thick black a few brown yeast particles floating around with a tan brown head. Nose is all roast a few hints of stale grains and carmel. Flavor is similar. All roast, no chocolate, no bitterness, a little stale. As the tempature warms on it some grapefruit notes come out in the nose, but overall kinda average for an impy stout. hoplover406 (204), Crofton, Maryland, USA

Appearence was black with brown head...good carbonation. Aroma of coffee and chocolate malt. It had a lighter, creamier mouthfeel .. almost fluffy. I like that. Not a hardcore example of the style, but well done and tasty! dmac (1500), Toms River, New Jersey, USA

Simply awesome looking with a thick dark body and a light brown ample creamy head. Aroma was what to be expected with choclate and coffee notes in a very malty body. Flavor had a hint of sweetness with malt domination including the aftertaste. Wouldn’t turn this one down if offered to me again. MrBendo (1044), Swedesboro, New Jersey, USA

Aroma of chocolate and roasted coffee. A signature impy; taste of choffee and a bit of hops. moderately sweet and lightly bitter. Nothing original, but an exceedingly good impy. moejuck (1172), Ohio, USA

Aroma of light coffee, roasted malts, with some bitter hops. Flavor is coffee, chocolate, and some smoke with a dry bitterfinish. A good stout JoeMcPhee (5025), Jackson Heights, New York, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Apr 12, 2007 Dark black beer with a thick brown creamy head. Long lasting and very persistent. The aroma is quite sweet, with light chocolate and a bit of ethanol as well. There is a soft berryish essence behind the dark chocolate and roast. Warming brings up a soft grapefruit and a heavy pine/earthy hop flavour in the back. The flavour has lots of chocolate and bittersweet cocoa with a lovely mint/herbal hop flavour in addition to the previously alluded to grapefruit. Despite its apparent sweetness up front, it finishes roasty and very dry. It’s not really my type of impy. Lou18 (1353), West Paterson, New Jersey, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Apr 6, 2007 Big bottle, poured thinish with oiliy ring after the mid-level creamy tan head settled onto the dark brown body. Lots of a wineous nosee with roasted choclate and lots of bitternes, trace of dark fruits too. Taste has lot of carbination, which I hope will dissappear some as it warms. Slight warming, but really no trace of the 9.5% Very nice, Thanks steve!
