22oz bottle. Pours a dark black core; medium tan head with great retention and fine-bubbled lacing. Toasted vanilla and milk chocolate in the aroma. Medium-to-full mouthfeel: plenty of milk chocolate, roasted malts and bitter chocolate; pleasant, balancing citrus bitterness; warm, alcoholic component. Lengthy, bitter chocolate and citrus finish.

Bottle sampled with Beerded_one. Pours black with a large tan head. Aroma of roast, chocolate, and hops. The flavor is chocolate, slight sweetness, and a fine bitter hoppy finish. Good brew.

Pours jet black into a snifter. Brown micro head conglomerates and leaves spider lacing as it slowly recedes. Mild cocoa aromas. Slightly sour espresso and full upfront with with a lasting baker’s chocolate, pit fruit and tobacco finish.

(thanks to irishboy for sharing this one)black body with a red ring around the glass.lots of barley wine type aromas.(cotton candy,grapefruit,etc.)but i did pick up some chocolate as well.flavor is much of the same with this strange "how would you like a pork sandwich,served on a dirty ashtray" finish.(to quote chet from wired science.)plus a bit of a blended beet and asparagus thrown in as well.half of this baby went down the drain....

Bottle; Nose of dark fruit like dark chocolate covered cherries mixed with raisins; Opaque black with cherry accents and a medium tan head; Flavor of coffee, asparagus, chocolate and some hop bitterness. The finish is smoky like I been hanging around a cigar smoker. Odeed didn’t like it that much either.

A nice, bitter, hoppy mix-- likely to border on too much so for many tastes. Alcohol was present but not upfront in a 9.5% abv beer. Enjoyable, but I wouldn’t drink it every day.

Bottle (thanks ClarkVV). A jet black beer with an impressively thick and rocky dark tan head. Aroma of dark fruits and fresh hops, underpinned by chocolate and dry wood. Very bitter up front, with tongue-curling courtesy of the bitter hops and raw dark malt, but mellows out in the middle and leaves a pleasant smokey tobbaco and chocolate aftertaste. Just a bit too harsh in places for me.

Feb. 27, 2007; 22 oz. bomber purchased from Kraig’s Kegs, Sherrill NY. Black pour, tan two-finger head. First taste impression was that of a dark chocolate cabernet, if such a thing could exist. Remarkably hoppy, with bitterness teetering perilously close to vinegary sourness. Chocolate notes outlast the hops on the palate. Muted aroma. A bit boozy. Not quite on par with the outstanding Great Divide "Yeti" Imperial Stout I had this past weekend but, nevertheless, I’m becoming more impressed with this backyard brewery with every sample of its wares.
