Pours a dark black with a creamy, tan head. Fairly hoppy in the aroma. A noticeable alcohol aroma and slight burn in the back. Malty, bubbly. Touch of charcoal makes it almost seem barrel aged, but this isn’t the barrel aged option. Good beer. Slightly astringent.

Nearly black with a mid sized kahki head. Roasty aroma with notes of coffee, smoke and toffee as well. Bitter roasted barley flavor, with some coffee, cocoa and very light smoke. Lightly buttery, ringwood flavor in the finish accompanied by some moderately bitter hops. Notes of licorice and plum linger on the tounge.

Motor oil black, dark tan creamy head. Rich nose of lightly smoked milk chocolate, French roast coffee, soft toasty caramel, faint blackberry and citrus, with a touch of vanilla late. Bitter dark chocolate and citrus flavors are mingled nicely with toasty caramel and espresso notes. Medium bodied and oily, light carbonation, burnt chocolate citric finish. Very nice...

Growler thanks to Troy. Dark black in color with a small tan head. Aroma of dark roasted malts, molasses and chocolate. Flavor of roasted malts, bittersweet chocolate, molasses and dark fruits. Alcohol becomes apparent after you swallow. Solid stout.

Bottle Pours an inky black with a very tall brown head. Very thick heavy lacing. Aroma of prunes, sweet dark roasted malts and milk chocolate. Flavor is mostly smokey and dark pitted fruits again. The abv is evident. A bit fumey on the aftertaste. Extremely soft and slick feel on the tounge. PLenty of hops balance it nicely. Tasty.

(Daught) I sought this beer out the last 5 times I was in Syracuse to no avail - this trip I found it at 4 locations?!?!?! Sampled at the Blue Tusk for $4 a pint. Had this beer held its head it would have definitely received a 5 for appearance - its next to perfect. Its still very beautiful. Thin brown foamy and dissipating head with an opaque body. Nose of fresh ground coffee but little else (the Blue Tusk was pouring the beers way TOO cold!). Bitter and bloody flavours with a smoked coffee and a thin fast finish. A good beer but not what I had envisioned sadly...
