Shoreline Beverage, Huntington, NY. Very nice aroma, roasted coffee, and dark chocolate. The appearance is very attractive; a dark brown/black, with a nice tan head. The carbonation gives the beer the attractive rising bubbles. Flavor is roasty, not as sweet as expected. Mostly tastes of burnt coffee, some burnt wood. Dryer than expected. Significant hop bite on the finish, slightly unusual for this style. Thick mouthfeel. Not bad at all, and very reasonably priced.

Bomber. Poured deep brown with a nice creamy cap of darker tan head. The aroma picked up well-roasted darker chocolate and coffee notes joined by sour oaky notes and mild soy.. deeper yet were sherry notes and licorice. The flavor gave some indication that this may be a tad past its prime.. mild stale cardboard and coffee notes joined in the fun (some of that could’ve been the hop selection, though, as I haven’t had this for too long).. burnt black patent maltage with some chocolate influences at the core paired with anise and faint honeysuckle.. some sweetness on the finish with a heavy dose of herbal bitterness.. the alcohol was well masked. Heavier-bodied and tacky on the palate with high bitterness/sharpness.. even more oak-like sourness at the finish, and I didn’t think this was oak-aged. Strange, but alright.

Pours black with short-lived bubbly brown head. Aroma of burnt malt, dark chocolate, roasted coffee. Flavor is sweet with notes of coffee, licorice, and bitter hops. Decent amount of burnt malt, but it just doesn’t quite meld as well as some other Imperials I’ve sampled. Slightly medicinal, but by no means terrible.

Bottle from Julio’s Liqour in Mass. Pours with an opaque, black body topped by a brown, thick head with lots of lacing. It’s slighlty sweet and roasty as hell with bitter chocolate notes and a bitter hoppiness. Full bodied, smooth and a touch dry.

22oz. Pours motor oil black with a frothy brown head. Aromas of roasted malt, coffee, and some coco. Flavors of oat, coffee, and malt. Smooth drinking stout with great flavor. Thanks to Adam for that one.

Black pour, medium beige head. Aroma is roasty, smoke and some coffee. Flavor is smokey throughout, licorice, some coffee and a big chalky aftertaste. The smoke dominates bad but also has a dry chalky taste going on, almost burnt coffee tasting with a big hop bitterness. Just to aggressive.

Draft: Black body, light just barely shines through. Light brown head, left a thick ring of lacing behind. Aroma has an almost metallic quality w/ black licorice. Flavor is just so-so w/ some roasted maltiness & a hint of black licorice sweetness. Palate is insanely watery though. Blah...
