Commercial Description:
An epic barleywine, made in the tradition of British Farmhouse Brewing. Lavished with a velvety blend of six different malts this is a warming beer with a lush mouthfeel. The complexities your discriminating palate will detect are ever changing as this barleywine matures. When young, an assertive hop character predominates and with age the beauty of the big malt balance unfolds.

Bottle. Hazy amber. Sweet caramel, flowery and hoppy aroma, which also appear in the flavour with more bitter hops and plenty of alcohol. Bitter dry finish.

Bottle. Amber colour with a beige head. Floral, pine, peach, hop aroma and taste, dry. Medium body with a sweet light dry hoppy finish. More like a IPA/IIPA.

Bottle. Clear orange coloured with an off white head. Aroma of fruits, spices, hops and pine needles. Flavour of fruits, spices, hops and pine needles. Tastes more like imperial brown ale than barley wine.

Bottle sampled. Pours amber/orange with a decent size off-white head. Aroma of caramel, citrus, fruit, and alcohol. The flavor is caramel, tart fruit, citrus, and alcohol. Good brew.

Bottle from Capone’s. Turbid orangy ruby color with 1-finger off-white head. Aroma of big citrus, tangerine, black pepper, canteloupe, caramel malt, cabernet. There are tons of hops and tropical citrus in this aroma. The taste is on the tart side, very citric, with peppery, caramel malt, cabernet, port, cognac, and pineapple notes. Gets a tad hot as it warms, but this one is very good. Mix 2 parts Dreadnaught with 1 part Insanity and 1 part Doggie Claws, and you have this beer.

Opaque amber/orange appearance with a large, off white head that left a thin layer of lacing. An untypical barlywine aroma; herbal hops. earthy, slightly medicinal, with hints of leather. Taste was decent but not overly complex. Some sweetness from the caramel malts, followed by some fruitiness, before turning drier, hoppier and more bitter. Smooth, full-bodied, well carbonated mouthfeel. Alcohol more noticable in the lingering aftertaste.

Tap at Barcade: Pours a nice hazy amber with an off-white head. The aroma is beautifully hopped. Lemony and bright, honeyish, bisquity and slightly perfumy. This is a well hopped barley wine, both aromatically and flavor wise. There’s a nice lemony bite with some residual mintyness. The malt backbone gives it a candyish note, and has a smooth late alcohol hint. There’s a light dryness in the long finish. A tasty, hoppy barley wine.

22 oz. bomber poured a deep amber color with small and short lasting off-white head. Aroma was fruity and sweet malts. Flavor was a bit complex. Caramel malt, butterscotch, fruit esters and bitter hops gave an interesting taste. As it warmed, the metallic bitterness mellowed a bit, but still lingered. I would have rated this higher if not for the metallic taste, maybe they could use a different hop blend. Full bodied and quite drinkable. Let this one warm a bit for full enjoyment.
