The acl content is pretty this and it’s fairly well hidden, but would skip this one if I was on the fence hiphops (280), caldwell, New Jersey, USA

| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 12/20 | Jan 12, 2007 12oz. bottle: This one pours a cloudy, amber color. There was a fairly good sized off-white head on it, but it dropped off rather quickly. An interesting aroma. Something different almost every time I take a whiff. Some citrus, as well as other fruits. Also some caramel and butterscotch. Maybe a hint of floral also. The taste is a touch harsh. I would expect more smoothness. Definitely a full body, and some of the carmal sweetness is coming through. A somewhat dry/slightly bitter/metallic aftertaste. Not enough to make it bad, just different. It doesn’t taste like a bad bottle, just not the best flavor. The flavor was just the same. Smooth, felt good.
It’s a little on the "rich" side. I wouldn’t have more than one or two. DrBayern (1137), Morehead City, North Carolina, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Jan 9, 2007 12 oz. bottle pours a nearly clear deep amber with a foamy medium yellowish tan head that slowly recedes. Sweet caramel aroma with some noticeable diacetyl. There are also more suybtle notes of fruit and spice. Thick, slighlty oily mouthfeel with light carbonation. Sweet malt flavors dominate, but then give way to a peppery bitterness that dries up the finish. The diactetyl prevents this from being really sterling. xproudfoot (729), Paleolithic, Pennsylvania, USA
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 15/20 | Dec 22, 2006 Triple gumm-fruity citrus, surprising sweet pucker nose. deep amber with regular beige tufty head. Flavor is more of a triple IPA. super hoppy citrus fruity, strong finish, not much barley but awesome as an IPA. Big palate, strong but drinkable. Shared this among some toher bottles at a party (including an imp stout and a real triple IPA) and this was the favorite of all. It probably has a low rating because, as a barleywine, it is an utter failure. It tastes nothing like barleywine. If like me, you’d rather a double IPa over a barleywine , this will be a nice surprise. I drank this within less than 6 months of purchasing it, don’t know how long it had been at the store though. Drink it young, it’s a delicious hop explosion, very nice mix of flavors, I want to get a bunch more to drink young and to experiment with aging. whaleman (2171), North Wales, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 12/20 | Nov 14, 2006 22 oz. bottle. Clear amber body with notable viscosity and a moderately foamy, slowly receding off-white head. Signature Middle Ages diacetyl notes in the nose with a burnt butter character, plus some toffee and light cinnamon spice. Toast, caramel, and edgy tobacco-like malt qualities. Thin body and significant sharp bitterness produce an intial dry impression, but some sticky sweetness develops. Ultimately, this is another flop from Middle Ages.
