Commercial Description:
An epic barleywine, made in the tradition of British Farmhouse Brewing. Lavished with a velvety blend of six different malts this is a warming beer with a lush mouthfeel. The complexities your discriminating palate will detect are ever changing as this barleywine matures. When young, an assertive hop character predominates and with age the beauty of the big malt balance unfolds.

Bottled. Amber coloured. Fruity aroma. Very sweet and fruity flavour with lots of malt. Rather dry and grassy finish.

i have tried alot of the middle ages beers in syracuse, but took this one home and just popped i open last night. to my surprise this was definately one of their better beers. pours ruby brown with a tan head. citrus hops in the nose with a flurish of sweetness. your mouth gets hit with a bitterness of grapefruit up front then mellows to a fluid maltiness that is quite subtle. slight alcohol in the finish but well within the acceptable or unoticeable range. didnt exactly remind me of a barley wine...more of a double ipa or whatever they are calling these beers today. good stuff!!

Pours a rich coppery brown with hints of red. Thin tan head but plenty of lace. Smells of floral hops, grapefruit. Some fruity malt. Bitter. Great big hops on the tongue. Various hops flavors: bitingly bitter, floral and citrusy. Rich malt with a hint of alcohool bite. Lightly nutty. Full bodied and chewy with a pleasantly bitter hops aftertaste. A pleasant surprise, this one. Could stand to be aged a bit for sure but very tasty and drinkable now. A fine barleywine.

Chock full of hoppiness and a yeasty twang. My bottle was "fresh", reminded me of a SN Bigfoot.

Thanks to Springslicker for the bottle. Pours a burnt umber-gold color, off white head. Big malt aroma, with a vegetable aroma of bittering hops. Also an unfortunate phenolic tinge. Medium large body, what I would consider small in proportion to the alcohol content. Dried fruit malt flavors in the nose, then combining with a deeply imbedded bitter character. Alcohol bite and warmth come through in the finish, framed by residual tones of the aforementioned bitterness. Also, a strong currant flavor is suggested at the melding point of these disparate characters. Although young, I don’t percieve this as an overly hoppy style of barleywine. Overall mouthfeel is slightly chewy, but I feel it didn’t hold up over the course of the entire beer. Perhaps more aging would benefit this beer.

2004 Bottle. Pours a smooth dark amber with more carbonation that expected from an Barley Wine. The aroma is very citrus with hints of toffee and barley of course. The taste is weaker and less malty than most Barely Wines. However, it has unique style that makes this well balanced brew a pleasure to drink. Its light and flavorful with a slightly bitter finish. Hides the alcohol well and is definitely worth a try.

This beer poured an attractive amber color out of the bottle with a tight cream colored head. Fresh citrus hop nose with some honey in the background. The flavor of this beer is all hops. Lots of raw hops that were almost harsh on the tongue but softened as it warmed. Grapefruit juice and aggressive pine with a long, bitter finish. Definitly a beer for hop heads.

Pours a copper color witha inch of creamy head.Nose is almost candy like.Like a sweet caramel/cotton candy.Taste is initially sweet but is evened out with some sweetness and caramel.Actaully, this is quite hoppy. Not bad at all.
