Commercial Description:
An epic barleywine, made in the tradition of British Farmhouse Brewing. Lavished with a velvety blend of six different malts this is a warming beer with a lush mouthfeel. The complexities your discriminating palate will detect are ever changing as this barleywine matures. When young, an assertive hop character predominates and with age the beauty of the big malt balance unfolds.

Clear filtered ruby hied-amber body that is topped by a positively medieval pillowy light tan head. Lacing is excellent. Looks very appealing. Citurs hop aroma burst forth out of the bottle. In the glass citrus, butterscotch, light caramel, lightly dusty, and earthiness make for an appealing nose. The flavor is caramel, light cinnamon, buttersctoch, spicy hops, and medium citrus. Medium bitter throughout. Alcohol comes in strong towards the end making it quite the warmer. Medium dry not sticky body, bitter lingers. Nice beer. Different. An intersting cross between the American and British barley wine styles. Reminds me of an amped up ESB crossed with Double Bastard. Probably best drunk young though I have no solid evidence of this, just a guess.

Orange to red ale with an off white head. Light malty aroma with some sharp hops. Sweet malt with intense lingering hops and citrus. Medium bodied. A bit too much hops for the style, more like a double IPA. Un gros merci a Dumdum!

Clear medium amber color with a surprisingly good off white head that is quite persistent. Marshmallow malt aroma with some hops in the background. Light fruit begins to come through. Mild flavored for the style. Predominant hops with a mild malt background. The alcohol is completely hidden. I’ll bring the others of the four pack out in time and re-rate this one. I’m interested to see what it will become.

appearance: a light plummy color, between red and violet, qute lovely, with a perfunctory, 1/4" off-whitish head. Aroma: big fruit, but mildly hoppy, strong booze. Taste: well-rounded, with prominent fruitiness, but bending towards an inoffensive malty vein, though still flowering with herbal, even vegetal associations. Quite a lot going in this flavor, though relatively mild on the palate. As we go, still bursting with a winey character, very bright fruit, extraordinarily flavorful, but not too harsh, not too brash. Just right, mellow and so very tasty. As a lover of the barleywine style, I’d say, even at, what? 9.5%?, it fills an important niche, the "session strong ale." Potent, but not punishing. Well, maybe you couldn’t have too many at once, but it feels like you could attempt it!

Picked up at Habersham Beverage Warehouse in Savannah, Ga. Dark golden to light orange appearance, thin but omnipresent white had, not much lacing - kind of light for a barley wine. Aroam has some faint floral accents with a bit of citrusy hoppiness. Flavor has a hoppy citrusy bent to it but is lacking a malty bacbone found in most barley wines. Faint traces of nuttiness are also present. The mouthfeel is fairly thick and the 9.5% ABV is hidden extremely well. Overall, a decent barley wine, but not one for the ages.

Wasn’t that much of a fan of this Barley Wine , it was kind of unusual for this style too. Orange brown color, no head. Bubble gum nose, sweet with some hops. Same in the taste. Also alcohol and grapefruits.

Bottle provided by Larry (goldtwins) via trade. Deep red-orange body, medium/thin clumping cream head. Deep caramely aroma, bready, with big piney and resiny C-hops and hints of dark fruit. Rather undeveloped caramel body with some dark fruits, very sweet, balanced (or overbalanced) by resiny pine sap and grapefruit rind hops. A bit "hot," a function of its age. Sweet and lightly tangy but not all that complex. Could use some cellar time.
