Poured into a Chimay chalice it’s actually a melon orange color, not the dark amber/brown that I expected. There is a thin head of swirling white lace. Aroma is sweet caramel and some creaminess... actually really appetizing. Flavors are very well blended - I’m not sure if that is the age, but this is good. Spiciness and sweet maltiness are in harmony. This is very nice. bhops (334), Dallas, Texas, USA

| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jul 3, 2009 In short: A well hopped, rather sweet and very fruity barley wine that is more drinkable and refreshing than expected. Good brew.
How: Bottle 22oz. Consumed about 8 months after purchase (no date on bottle)
The look: Cloudy orangey-brown body topped by a medium off-white head
In long: Nose more hoppy than average for the style with a nice citrusy character. Body as a lot of fruity caramel. Fruity flavours include berries, citrus, pineapples(!!), kiwis(!!) and more. The fruity character has a fresh fruits character instead of a dried fruits flavour. A nice bitter hops finish that is both resinous and fruity. The body is really not heavy considering the style. And with the refreshing fruity character and good hops presence I must say I’ve had some IIPAs that had a similar flavour spectrum. I find most American barley wines overrated but this is a rare case where I find one that I feel is misunderstood. It’s not a slap in the face, this is an easy drinking brew. Now that I’m too old for Modern Days Catholic Priest Fluid I drink Middle Ages Druid Fluid. That’s ok with me but I kinda miss the cookies. BuckeyeBoy (1689), Boise, Idaho, USA

Poured hazy brownish copper color with medium frothy off-white head that was mostly lasting with good lacing. Complex dark fruity and roasted caramel aroma. Medium to heavy bittersweet flavor with a medium to heavy sweet dark fruit finish of moderate duration. Medium body with a sticky texture and flat carbonation.
Good rich brew. ditmier (1114), Boise, Idaho, USA
