Commercial Description:
An epic barleywine, made in the tradition of British Farmhouse Brewing. Lavished with a velvety blend of six different malts this is a warming beer with a lush mouthfeel. The complexities your discriminating palate will detect are ever changing as this barleywine matures. When young, an assertive hop character predominates and with age the beauty of the big malt balance unfolds.

Bottle thanks to thickfreakness. Pours a reddish orange color with a small white head. Nose: cool ranch doritos, sweat, pine, citrus hops. taste is corny, dry, and kind of sweet. Hard to describe.

My 1850th entry, a seven-buck bomber from Capone’s. Mild gusher despite the long refrigeration and lack of movement. Room-filling, huge pine nose balanced by huge caramel malt. Deeply hazy amber-copper pour with a solid, Duvel-like beige head. Chewy, earthy malt, big sting but on the whole the alcohol is well-embedded. A little fusel-y, though. Full body very warming, a bit muddled in the hop registers (no citrus?), laces well. Bunch of undigested sugar. A decent, not great, BW, probably better for a quick buzz than lengthy enjoyment.

2004 Bottle. Sweet strawberry notes with some alcohol presence. Light grape aroma, some oxidation. Cloudy orange-brown with no head. Not much left from this beer. Some alcohol and sharp carbonation with light grape and strawberry. Nice thickness.

Pours a cloudy murk of reds and browns with a modest head. Aroma is not hugely powerful, but has a nice balance of grapefruit and caramel toffee. Alcohol is evident and quite prevalent, but come as a welcome. Flavor is ripe with hops and alcohol pokes through vigorously, but somehow a nicely proportioned balance was struck. Palate is slightly sticky from the gratuitous amount of residual sugars, and finishes with a slight booze character. Interesting for sure, but a little frayed around the edges.

2004 bottle, thanks to jjpm74. Amber pour with off-white head. Aromas of caramel, malt, mild butterscotch. Earhty with eucalyptus notes. Honey and vanilla. Not stellar, but certainly not bad.
