Commercial Description:
An epic barleywine, made in the tradition of British Farmhouse Brewing. Lavished with a velvety blend of six different malts this is a warming beer with a lush mouthfeel. The complexities your discriminating palate will detect are ever changing as this barleywine matures. When young, an assertive hop character predominates and with age the beauty of the big malt balance unfolds.

Sample from 22 oz. bottle @ DLD ’08. Pours a clear light amber color with a medium sized white head. The aroma is caramel malts, fruits, and floral which together produces a fairly sweet nose. The flavor was only moderately sweet behind more caramel/toffee malt, apricot style fruitiness, and light hops. The alcohol was more present in the flavor than the nose. The finish is on the bitter side. Medium bodied. This one will not make the short list of even above average barleywines.

2 oz bomber from Capones. Pours a clear orangey amber with a small of white foamy head. Aroma of caramel, toffee and floral hops with only a slight touch of grain. Medium bodied light carbonation and rather dry for a BW. Flavor of caramel, toffee, bread but with an overall waxy taste as well. Average at best to slightly below average, sort of like most first round draft picks.

Bomber from a relatively recent trade, shared with my GF Cyn. Pours deep orange with a tan head. The nose is sweet and fruity hinting at heat. Taste is sweet but thin and one dimensional. Eh.

Semi cloudy amber. Smell is fruity and a hint like rubbing alcohol. Flavor is quite rind-like and has some present alcohol in the finish. Highly carbonated and thin. Big lemon and orange flavor. Overall, not bad - just a hint not balanced overall.

Bottle shared by JonathanL7890. Thanks!
Pours a rich cloudy orange amber color with an orange rind and caramel smell and taste. Citrusy and a touch warming from the alcohol. Sharp, citrusy alcohol and hops with a medium body. Not bad.

Dark orange, almost light amber with small silky head that does lace some. Sweet and bitter orange peel, some caramalts, but not overpowering. Slight marzipan or marshmallow and some woodsy hops. Very light malt profile for a BW. There is more of a bitter citrus and herbal/medicinal hop impression than there is of malts. Double IPA territory for sure. Soft and maybe slightly watery feeling, but still pretty drinkable for a BW.

Pours a nice ruby color with a thick off white head. Strong malty and hop aroma. flavor has caramel, hops, banana, clove, and a bit of sweet fruit. Finishes mildly bitter, no hint of the abv. Nice!

Bomber at DLD. Poured a cool shade of translucent golden with a short cap of white head. The aroma was very sweet with honey, caramel, and lesser cereal malts.. too sweet, but it did manage to mask the alcohol. The flavor was also too sweet with pale malts and some medium-skinned fruit.. not a lot of bitterness.. alcohol heat rose toward the back. Grainy and strong on the palate with OK balance.. rough at the end.. just not a very good barley wine.
