Dark straw pour with huge resiny hop aroma. The flavor was very piney hoppy, reminiscent of Ruination. The finish was indeed long and hoppy and dry, but there was enough malt to balance it nicely. Well done. As a side note, this one had touches of the same cat piss aroma that I found in Wailing Wench, but it did not detract from the beer. Lou18 (1353), West Paterson, New Jersey, USA

| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Sep 24, 2005 Bottle: Pours a beautiful golden amber color with a thick off-white head that remains as a bubbly layer ontop throughout the beer. It has quite nice lacing and carbonation running throughout. A malty aroma with citrus undertones. A sweet front followed by a hoppy finish. Kind of maltier than I was expecting, but quite a nice balance. Also some apple, butter, floral and citrus flavors as well as a tiny bit of a dry bite to it. A very good beer. | 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Sep 24, 2005 Beautiful golden amber with a huge dense off-white head. Bitter with citric American hops, good sweet malt and caramel, and a long, dry, bitter finish. Maybe a bit astringent or dry in the mouth at first, but quite nice. And did I mention long, dry, bitter finish? Again. Definitely my favorite style. BitchesBrew (710), Berkeley, California, USA

Nice balance of citrus, hops and malts. This has a nice bitterness and a sweet, mild finish. I would pick this up again. BennyTicklez (621), USA

| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Aug 21, 2005 Dull copper. Well-packed ring of bubbles hugs the glass. Balanced aromas of buttery wood, dessert apples, jellied bananas, and pine straw. Tight, but brisk, carbonation. Opens with hard minerals touched with grated lemon peels, peach fuzz bitterness, and a lush nutty-Crystal cushion. Minuscule juicy hop presence, but the yeast yields ample fruitiness. Minty alcohol reinforces the snappy Ringwood-induced dryness. Oodles of oily hops pummel the palate and lend softness, but the insistent graininess remains. Staunch Ringwood and walnut skins continually exaggerate the husky center. Dry, brashly hoppy, and salt accented finish, but with a strong-willed counterpoint of subtle diacetyl, toasted husks and nuts. Yet another beauty to behold from the Ringwood gurus. A dead-on replication of the 19th century classics.
